Quick note - Lands are myr tokens. Perilous Myrs death trigger targets the opposing player with the highest life.

Myr Retriever returns the top myr of the hordes graveyard to the battlefield. It can't return a myr retriever.

The myr with specialized abilities are just flavor myr.

I tested against it with the m15 abzan deck, and can say it is possible to defend against the horde on your own.
