Yet another UW Heroic deck, but with a slight twist. I've been looking at a bunch of decks in the same vein and comparing them to this deck, making adjustments as I go. This is the best version so far.
The main engines of the deck are in the form of
Hero of Iroas
and
Battlewise Hoplite
.
Battlewise Hoplite
lets me see what's next, and
Hero of Iroas
makes my
Stratus Walk
s and my
Ordeal of Thassa
s cost next to nothing. Then I keep the removal down with
Gods Willing
and swing for wins with Aqueous Form. All your standard UW Heroic aggro stuff.
The difference here comes with
Artisan of Forms
. Threats like Siege Rhino, Stormbreath Dragon, and Wingmate Roc are all dealt with by matching fire with fire. And I have the ability to pump my copy easily. Tack an
Eidolon of Countless Battles
onto an
Artisan of Forms
and it's suddenly a 6/7 Siege Rhino. And nothing is more fun than making a 4/4 indestructible Sarkhan Dragon to keep for yourself! The transition into Midrange, unlike other UW Heroic decks I've seen, is what makes this deck a threat.
But the deck falls to two very broad things: flying and artifacts.
Stratus Walk
can only do so much, and I'm working on a sideboard strategy to help me out with that. If there's no
Artisan of Forms
or
Stratus Walk
on the way in the face of a 5/5 flyer, I'm suddenly on a 4 turn clock to get it done or die trying.
And if there's a
Scuttling Doom Engine
coming at me, forget it. I can't give protection from a color with
Gods Willing
, I can't block with all my 1/2s and 2/2s, and I don't really want to kill it either. The best I can do is put Banishing Lights in the sideboard and hope for the best.
And the sideboard is in flux as well. If you have (cheap) suggestions, let me know!
Please +1 if you like the deck and leave a comment for suggestions. I'm basically begging for them.
