Birds Counter - Presentation

type:

synergy deck with +1/+1-counters, based on the creature type "birds". Game could be won in round 5.

goal:

having strong flying birds in game and overflow the opponent with massive flying damage.

tactic:

In the first round comes the evolving Cloudfin Raptor to boost him to a strong flyer round by round.

In the second round comes card:Thrumming Bird because of its proliferate effect for every other bird with counters on it.

In the third round can come Umara Raptor to go on using proliferate with counters. Warden of Evos Isle just will boost the installation of a bird army by decreasing manacost, which goes very well with Soulcatcher's Aries card drawing. Arctic Aven is for defensive gaming with its lifelink. He needs to get pushed or protected to get stronger.

In the fourth round boost and protection comes from Feat of Resistance and Ordeal of Thassa which will put counters and support with nice effects. Maybe they need to be played earlier... Soulcatcher gets +1/+1 counter whenever another Bird dies. This effect is multiplyed by card:Soulcatchers' Arie as the main boost for all other birds with the nice effect to draw cards. So whenever any Bird dies, all other get stronger and the gameplay gets boosted.

In the fifth round the implemention of the bird army goes on. Birds with counter will boost High Sentinels of Arashin , who can be a nice finisher. Battle Screech with its Flashback will bring much birds onto the battlefield that may be sacrificed by blocking for the boost by the Soulcathers. Sacrifice can also be done by Seaside Haven for the Soulcathers and drawing a card. Moorland Haunt just can use the creatures in the graveyard to add flying blockers to the battlefield.

Depending on the opponents tactis the sidebord provides a slower and more defensive tactic: A bouncer with lifegain Dramatic Rescue and the bouncing ability of Keeper of the Nine Gales . Test of Faith is another nice instant protector with +1/+1-counter laying. Coast Watcher is a cheap flyer with protection from green. Aven Riftwatcher is a cheap strong flyer with lifegain and proliferable counters to keep him on the battlefield if needed. Vanish can also be used by the Soulcathers, just to start laying counters on them for proliferation. Cloudchaser Kestrel is a solid flyer, who destroys an enchantment on entering the battlefield, maybe helpful. Thieving Magpie is just a solid flyer with the option to draw cards on combat damage to a player to power up the lategame. Overall there could be more controling spells or +1/+1-counter layer...

Bestcase:

1.) Island + Cloudfin Raptor

2.) Plains + Thrummingbird (Cloudfin Raptor now 1/2, attack [opponent @19])

3.) card:Isand + Umara Raptor (Cloudfin Raptor now 2/3, attack [opponent @16], proliferate to 3/4, 3/3, 1/1)

3.) Optional tactic is to boost the Thrummingbird with Feat of Resistence to give him a counter and protection, to finally proliferate and also boost the Thrummingbird itself. If the opponent can't block with flying creatures then Ordeal of Thassa is preferred as the boost...

4.) Plains + High Sentinels of Arashin (as a 5/6 flyer, attack [opponent @9], proliferate to 5/6, 4/5, 4/4, 1/1)

4.) Optional tactic is Soulcatcher + Soulcatchers' Aerie (collect power from dying flyers - mostly by blocking)

5.) Island + Ordeal of Thassa (on a bird with no counters or on other bird with counters to draw 2 cards this round) attack to win...

5.) Optional tactic is to fill the board with more birds by named options. Battle Screech is a good way and possibly feed the Soulcathers or help controling the sky with The Keeper of the Nine Gales.

note: Play passive to reach the boni in lategame but it can be played aggressively if the opponent isn't prepared to fight against a flying army.
