Name a nonland card, then reveal the top card of your library. If that card is the named card, draw three cards.

The Un-sets are intended to be humorous and not taken seriously, but it would not surprise me if WotC uses them to test ideas that might work in "normal" sets; for example, Barren Glory is a functional reprint of The Cheese Stands Alone, an excellent idea, in my mind. Therefore, with Unstable being recently released, I am starting this thread to discuss cards or ideas from the Un-sets that would work in legitimate sets.

Organ Harvest, from Unglued, would work perfectly as normal card, as it is neither overpowered nor silly, so I am very surprised that it has not yet been reprinted.

Mise, from Unhinged, is also an excellent card, but it may be too powerful, so would need a higher mana cost to balance its effect.

Crow Storm, from Unstable, is also an awesome card, so I feel that it is worthy of being printed in a normal set (obviously not one that is standard legal, more likely a Commander set).

Timmy, Power Gamer, Johnny, Combo Player, and Spike, Tournament Grinder are all excellent cards that could be reprinted, with different names and, in Spike's case, a slight adjustment to their ability.

Host creatures and contraptions were interesting ideas, but likely to be too complicated for "normal" sets. Mox Lotus should have been a legitimate card, so I am very displeased that WotC wasted that name on a joke card. I also hope that there (finally) being a card of Urza in Unstable will lead to there being a card of Urza in a legitimate set.

What does everyone else say about this? What are some cards or ideas from the Un-sets that would work in normal sets?

Yeah, we're good. I've got Mise in there as well. I've also got a good number of cards and suggestions which I could substitute in, in case anybody should have a problem with those two, but I don't think they should do.

Thanks again. =3

Topdeck of the century.

Hey, so. Altogether I've not been playing Magic incredibly long, and I'm very consistently surprised whenever I look up old sets because there are reams of cards I've never seen before. I've got a few cards which gave me the idea for building a deck with a theme of interacting with/playing the top card of my library.

I'm in a casual playgroup where anything "not completely dickish" goes, so no suggestions are completely off the table. Unfortunately "top card of your library" is a bit of an ambiguous thing to look up and it's hard to find exactly what I'm seeking amongst all the millions of milling and skrying cards that the search pulls up.

Here are some cards that fit the theme:

Oracle of Mul Daya, Melek, Izzet Paragon, Skill Borrower, . Unfortunately a number of these cards sort of demand you build the deck around how they work (such as including a hefty amount of Instant/Sorcery cards for Malek), so I probably won't be including all of them, as fun as that sounds to me. I like the Oracle's extra land drop because I can then use an abundance of Karoo lands to help abuse my Skry lands more.

Brainstorm and Telling Time, or otherwise the likes of Autumnal Gloom  Flip for manipulation. This could set up for Clash or Miracle if I end up spinning it those ways. So too could Spin into Myth (and Shapeshifter's Marrow).

Nightveil Specter and Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver might also be fun.

Intet, the Dreamer, Conundrum Sphinx, Mise. These are the cards that make the deck fun, and the likes of which I'm most interested in finding more, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know that Manifest does interact with the top of your library but otherwise it's sort of incongruous with how this deck seems to work so far. That one self-milling insect guy whose name I can't remember that recently came back is also a thing, but I prefer the manipulation to be optional.

I'd appreciate any help you could give, even if it's just one card that might only be sort of useful. Thanks in advance!

ChiefBell - To mise is to get a lucky topdeck. It's a Magic only slang that is immortalized on the card Mise from Unhinged. The title is a play on words on the idiom "Eyes on the Prize"

Actually I'd go with Mise. It's Ancestral Recall as long as you're good at guessing...
