Bard Class

Enchantment — Class

(This enters the battlefield at Level 1. You may increase this enchantment's level by one by paying the appropriate costs. Activate to increase the level only as a sorcery.)

Level 1

Legendary creatures you control enter the battlefield with an additional +1/+1 counter on them.

: Level 2

Legendary spells you cast cost : less to cast. This effect reduces only the amount of coloured mana you pay.

: Level 3

Whenever you cast a legendary spell, exile the top two cards of your library. You may play them this turn.

As a graduate of Strixhaven school, Darb was inspired by Bard Class and is now living his dream as a part-time Bard, singing songs and telling tales of the heroic deeds and fearsome feats of countless legendary creatures (mostly commanders!). Most of his spare time is spent crafting casual commander decks.

Playested it, it's a really fun deck to play! I like the idea with Bard Class. +1 from me

If this were my deck, I would probably drop the following: Bard Class, Tovolar, Dire Overlord  Flip and the Kessig Naturalist  Flip. My reasoning is as follows:

Bard Class: The 1st chapter only helps 2 creatures in your deck. The 2nd chapter, does a little better, but you're still relying on having specific cards in hand to make use of it and if you don't then why are you putting it into play? The 3rd chapter runs into a similar problem, but what I see as a bigger problem would be casting the spells you could get off of it. Your land count isn't that high and might cause you to stall, making bard even less useful.

Kessig only pumps (and only sometimes) tovolar and dies to your dragon saga. Probably not worth it. Your large creatures are definitely going to carry the burden of winning for you. More coming later about this.

Tovolar is ok, but I don't feel like you get enough use of his abilities to make it worthwhile.

What I would do/add: First thing I would do is add a few more basic lands (forests would probably be best). Only having 20 lands will probably screw you up more times than it will ever help you. It also gives you more fodder for Borgy. Another thing I would look to add is a set of Transmogrify. This will enable you to take all your small creatures and turn them into your heavy hitters more often than not. You have enough token makers with domri and the green saga to make use of it. Consider this possibility, turn 3 weatherseed, turn 4 transmogrify into a beater off it's token. Nylea's Presence is also something to consider for the final chapter of weatherseed.

So what would the deck look like after these changes: I see this deck trying to keep small creatures at bay while with conduit and the dragon saga while you set up large creatures to beat face with. It's fairly simple and I think it would make the deck support itself better overall with these changes. But that's just what I would do. It's your deck, have fun with it however you want.

Honestly, I would add Bard Class. The second level will reduce all legendary spells by . I use it in my MTGA Jodah, the Unifier deck and it is really helpful.

I think that would be a good starting point, but I think there are enough affordable legendary creatures that you can develop the deck fairly easily, even on a more restrictive budget.

Also keep an eye out for support cards like General's Enforcer, Bard Class, and Time of Need (as some examples) to help hold the deck together.

Bard's Whisperflute

Artifact

At the beginning of each player's upkeep, for each creature they control, tap that creature unless its controller pays .

, , exert ~: Put a stun counter on each tapped creature you don't control.

For stun counters, look at the spoilers for Diminaria United. And this is basically an oldschool symmetrical prison card with a way to make it worse for your opponents.

Make a Gruul legendary bard that wants to include Bard Class into its commander deck.

Profet93 I made a few more tweaks as I am trying to power down a number of my decks while increasing their speed and efficiency. As such I removed Defense of the Heart, Bard Class, and Mana Reflection and replaced them with Ruby Medallion, Emerald Medallion, and Carpet of Flowers.

Defense of the Heart was both too powerful and drew too much hate before I was ready. I want this deck to explode outwards and delaying that hate and attention even 1 turn helps.

Bard Class is still a great card and i'm leaving it on my maybeboard in case I want to add it back, but I prefer the speed that Ruby Medallion and Emerald Medallion bring as they only require a 2 mana investment as opposed to the 4 mana required to turn on Bard Class.

Mana Reflection is along the same lines. If I can spend 2 mana for Ruby Medallion or Emerald Medallion to cut my costs by 1 as opposed to waiting until turn 6-8 to play Mana Reflection and double my mana, i'm several turns ahead of where I would be, not to mention that Mana Reflection is more likely to be destroyed as opposed to a small medallion that only reduces costs by 1 rather than doubling all my mana.

Not to mention that around 80%-90% of 4-player commander games feature someone with blue mana, which will allow me to generate a ton of mana with Carpet of Flowers. That, along with 2 medallions, should really help this deck take off.

That's where i'm at right now, and I feel like this should work really nicely. I'd love to hear your and anyone else's thoughts, but i'm really happy with how this deck has turned out.

Welcome to the club!

First thing I see here is a high average mana cost and relatively few lands and ramp. The Dragon Arch and Quicksilver Amulet help a little, but I suggest cutting a few Dragons and adding more lands and cards that find lands like Sylvan Scrying or Expedition Map. The color balance looks good, you just need more of it. You probably need at least 37-38 lands, if not more, and I would take a hard look at any cards above mana value 6, and cut the ones that don't measure up. Lower-cost dragons, like Icingdeath, Frost Tyrant or even Slumbering Dragon or Korlessa, Scale Singer will also help reduce costs.

My next thought is to take advantage of the legendary-ness of a lot of your dragons. Time of Need, Bard Class, and Mox Amber can all help, depending on how much money you're willing to spend.
