Just wondering what you all may tjink on the subject of, Is Bloodrush viable in todays meta of devotion decks? Is seems really easy to build a R/G based around bloodrush and Ruric Thar, the Unbowed . Using 40 creatures and 20 lands, 20 of which creatures have bloodrush, with all the control out there this seems to be there worst nightmare.

Generally, the only Bloodrush creature that is been considered viable is Ghor-Clan Rampager . Generally, you need to find a way to give your creatures trampled or you are going to get chumped a lot after using it once.

If you want to play a "bloodrush" type deck, you might take a look at the Red Green Monster decks. Polukranos, World Eater and Stormbreath Dragon along with Ghor-Clan Rampager and Flesh / Blood could be some of the aggressive games you're talking about. Personally, I'm playing GR Devotion.

I too usually play GR devotion. I actually just want to throw off the usual group at FNM with Spire Tracer , Burning-Tree Emissary , Elvish Mystic , and utilize Wild Beastmaster . While bloodrushing the Wild Beastmaster to grow all other creatures, and use Skarrg Guildmage to give one of them trample. I suppose Legion Loyalist would fix the trample problem, get first strike, and cant be blocked by tokens.

Ive even found use in using Wasteland Viper , one green mana and anyone can have deathtouch, as lng as the other creature doesnt have first strike or double strike you can take somehing big out with something small. or if someone multiblocks a big creature you have, and at least one will survive, not this time. or just having one on the battlefield can stall your opponent. good luck .

just like the first comment, if you dont have trample your gonna have a bad time. try using Nylea, God of the Hunt that way your trample part i good. trying to make him a creature is pointless, so just utilize him for trample. R/G is good when combining Savageborn Hydra and Ghor-Clan Rampager seriously a 5/5 or 9/9 double strike trample is gonna wreck stuff.

I ran bloodrush in my FNM's for about two months until two weeks ago and did decently on it. The main problem is that the format is shifted so much toward spot removal that it's very easy to get two-for-one'd if you bloodrush into it. Given how bloodrush is also pretty weak against control right now, where card advantage is everything, makes it a lot less appealing.

The main card that can make Bloodrush viable- Wild Beastmaster . Not only does it turn those into anthem effects, but it protects against the 2-for-1 problem that's been discussed since you still get the pump for your other creatures even if the Beastmaster is killed in response. I also saw someone running a Naya Bloodrush deck that made a Top 8 at FNM that utilized Boros Charm for Indestructible when needed, and Double Strike when it was safe.

Also, there are plenty of viable, albeit not great, Bloodrush cards outside of Ghor-Clan Rampager . Slaughterhorn , Wasteland Viper , Rubblebelt Maaka , and Wrecking Ogre are all playable, though you probably wouldn't want all of them in the same deck. I like the Naya approach since you can still use quality weenies like Voice of Resurgence , Fleecemane Lion , Fencing Ace , etc., plus Frontline Medic works well with this strategy, though using Hexproof guys like Gladecover Scout and Witchstalker in a straight Gruul build is another good route.

I realize I'm reviving a bit of a dead thread, but I always hate to see them settled on "meh, not competitive." You just gotta get the creative juices flowing =)
