Damn that is one badass dino. And in the right deck a T5 or T6 drop is highly possible.
Will it see play?

Seeing a turn 3 12-powered trampling commander seems sweet! Granted, you need 8 power by turn two (Old-Growth Dryads + Sheltering Ancient/Tempting Wurm) and then to cast any creature with power more than cmc (https://scryfall.com/search?q=cmc%3Cpow+%28identity%3Ag+or+identity%3Ac%29&order=cmc), but still seems awesome.
Oh wait, that's without Sol Ring or Mana Crypt. Damn, I'm Magical-Christmaslanding wrong.
October 30, 2017 1:40 p.m.
MagicalHacker says... #5
Wait, you can turn 2 him with just a Mana Crypt, a Cultivator's Caravan, and an Old-Growth Dryads. Not bad...
Vehicles seem really good with him.
October 30, 2017 1:48 p.m.
That ghalta has some ridiculous sinergy with vehicles... Crewing a Heart of Kiran will make it possible to cast on turn four

Lol that Dino seems nuts in a format filled with Tarmogoyf, Delve creatures, and Death's Shadow.
October 30, 2017 2:59 p.m.
As much as I have to say it that Dino cost to much for constructed maby sealed play it but not constructed as for the murfolk yes I love it

Ghalta...awesome name with a ghuttural dinosaur feeling. I like. Elder dinosaur...damn, thats cool.
Regarding silvergill adept: so now we're getting lorwyn reprints, hu?

CastleSiege says... #10
Awesome seeing Silvergill Adept getting a reprint with sweet new art AND a foil full art printing. May give standard Merfolk tribal the edge it needs. Fingers crossed for a new lord!

Ghalta almost seems... too inexpensive lol
Will be a fun commander card, as general or in the 99.

Yes, I'm hoping to see elder Dino Mythics of Ixalli, Kinjalli and Tilonalli etc.

I haven't really checked or done anything Magic related for a little while now and the first thing I see when I check in is Ghalta. All I have to say is come January, my self imposed break from Magic will be ending and it's all Ghalta's fault. Dayum that is a cool dino. Get ready to see T4 12/12 tramplers running amok in Standard thanks to Drover of the Mighty and Ripjaw Raptor. Also, I love that there appears to be less feathers on this "Elder Dinosaur", which suggests (to me at least) that he/she is lower on the evolutionary chain (i.e. not as closely related to birds yet).
Silvergill Adept is a welcome reprint for Modern Fish. Hopefully Cursecatcher and a decent merfolk lord will show up as well.
November 2, 2017 1:08 p.m.
That Dino is an easy turn 4 or 5 play for a mono green deck, maybe even sooner, thats insane

CastleSiege says... #18
Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor, Merfolk Sovereign was spoiled in Explorers of Ixalan, so there's hope it will show up in Rivals. Even with a 3cmc lord, that could be enough to put Standard Merfolk on the map, especially now that we're getting Silvergill Adept reprinted!

They're not remotely real, but if you're hungry for Spoilers, you might want to stop by this thread.
November 9, 2017 9:54 a.m.
clayperce for some reason those fake spoilers make me hate the world.
Possibly because one of the new employees at my LGS keeps posting pics of them as though they are real.
Otherwise I would probably find them delightful.

Argy,
Oh that's funny. It's equal parts interesting and sad when the line between Parody and Reality blurs ...

CastleSiege says... #22
I mean, it's a fine split between realistic cards, joke cards, and realistic cards that have place holder names and art. It could very well be a playtest sheet that somehow ended up in a Target repack. Or could be a way for Wizards to get people hyped for Unstable.
Almost definitely fake though.
November 10, 2017 10:22 a.m.
You get it clayperce.
It's like the uncanny valley of Magic cards.

New card spoiled. I'm on my phone atm and too lazy to post the entire card
November 17, 2017 5:16 p.m.
MagicalHacker says... #28
Fun times: turn 2 signet, turn 3 Breya, Etherium Shaper, turn four Storm the Vault to connect with a thopter to get a treasure to make it flip, turn 5 eleven mana if you make the land drop.
Good thing Breya only has 6 signets, but I have no idea how many other color-producing 2-drop mana rocks a Breya deck would/could/should play.

Two cards spoiled on mythic
Tetzimoc, Death Primordial
Legendary Creature - Elder Dinosaur
Deathtouch
, Reveal Tetzimoc, Death Primordial from your hand: Put a "Prey" counter on target creature. Only activate this ability during your turn.
When Tetzimoc, Death Primordial enters the battlefield, destroy all creatures with a "Prey" counter on them.
Neat card
And the last one; the one that was hinted and still in play. And it WILL hose walkers
The Immortal Sun
Legendary Artifact
Players can't activate Loyalty abilities of Planeswalkers.
At the beginning of your draw step, draw an additional card.
Spells you cast cost 1 less to cast.
Creatures you control get +1/+1.
November 20, 2017 10:42 a.m.
The Immortal Sun I think I might throw in my Talrand, Sky Summoner edh deck.
November 20, 2017 noon
MagicalHacker says... #32
I'm merely pointing out how crazy it will be in breya without even going to Magical Christmas Land.
Immortal sun seems like a jack of all trades, but master of none.

AgentGreen says... #33
MagicalHacker I see it as something you would play if you are not using Walkers
But that 6 cost is MASSIVE and doesn't do much beyond hosing Walkers
Standard Playable? I have doubts
November 20, 2017 12:53 p.m.
LittleBlueHero says... #34
In commander it doesn't help cast as many spells as Caged Sun and pumps the same in decks that run it... doesn't draw as many cards as you could with Mind's Eye... doesn't pump as well a lot of cards that are cheaper than it... so yeah it does a lot of things, but none of them well is a great assessment.
It will be a nice additional play in decks that need to increase those types of effects... colorless card draw is always playable in the format. But unless you know you are playing super friends the walker part is kind of meh since they aren't played heavily in commander.
November 20, 2017 1:48 p.m.
I think The Imortal Sun might be decent in Sealed, and for Control in Standard, but there are so many copies of Abrade floating around in the meta that it will be difficult to keep on the board.

Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor says... #36
I for one welcome our Elder Dinosaur overlords. Also, anyone know what's up with the symbol at the top left of the Immortal Sun artwork?
November 20, 2017 10:31 p.m.
If you mean the "O" that's just part of the name.
Except it's not English.
November 20, 2017 11:12 p.m.
Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor says... #38
Ah right, I just immediately translated it into English in my mind and completely forgot that the image was in another language haha. Plus for some reason when I looked at the card last night it didn't look quite like an 'O' to me.

Isn't that more of a leak? Thus, not legal here?

magicforthewin's link leads to some google drive nonsense. It might be malware.
November 25, 2017 7:17 p.m.
Yeah I'm rather suspicious of that as well, everyone else should ignore it.

DemonDragonJ says... #46
I have Caged Sun in all of my EDH decks (thus far), but am wondering if I should replace that card with The Immortal Sun, now that that card has been revealed; they have the same mana cost, but The Immortal Sun increases the power and toughness of all my creatures, regardless of color, and it also has two other excellent abilities. Since it hinders planeswalkers, I will not put it into any of my decks that contain those cards, and, while it will not cause my lands to produce additional mana, the fact that it reduces the cost of my spells will be very similar in practice.
What does everyone else say about this? Is The Immortal Sun a worthy replacement for Caged Sun?
November 26, 2017 8:43 p.m.
User:DemonDragonJ Caged Sun was a staple in my mono-colored decks, once I splashed a color or two it became less effective. The Immortal Sun ignores the restrictions of Caged Sun, gives you an extra card, and shuts down planeswalkers. It is possible that The Immortal Sun might draw more hate. In a non-superfriends deck that is the only downside I can think of.
November 26, 2017 9:16 p.m.
Wow, Immortal Sun is a profoundly uninteresting design.
November 26, 2017 9:29 p.m.
With the spoiler of a black elder dinosaur. does anyone else think there is going an elder dino for each color
November 28, 2017 8:56 p.m.
encore87 Oh yeah, if there isn't I would be legitimately shocked
