Tron's not huge atm, it's kinda losing steam, titanshift is fringe-ish enough for me not to worry about it and DS will usually play their dudes before they are too big to roast. I've never really seen them wait to cast a Roastable goyf or a 4/4 DS.
I may just add Bridges cause I have them till I can find what I really need.
I had given some consideration for Surgicals though, maybe that could do work?

Looks that way. I guess Emmy has some value as a way not to deck yourself as well as get back the statuary if it gets countered/discarded while going off. I'll be testing it out to see how it plays.

Anger of the Gods, Blessed Alliance, Timely Reinforcements, Celestial Purge, Negate, Logic Knot, and Geist of Saint Traft are all cards I would consider.

Hey guys!
Check out my U Tron build primer on MainPhaseMTG.net!
I've been seeing success with the list, have now 4-1 Comp League on MTGO with the list 5 times in the last couple of weeks, and it has a favorable matchup against the the top deck in the meta, which is always a plus.
Thanks for giving it a look!

At the moment (and especially against Death's Shadow) I feel like a Grixis Build is the best version, splashing just with one Watery grave so you can still follow the bloodmoon plan. Fatal push is just too stronk.

What do you guys think is the best competitive Jeskai deck? I am sorta all in on Jeskai since I have most of the landbase and core cards. I don't have a ton of money laying around that I can switch color schemes with, so I'm trying to make the deck the most competitive it can be. Thanks!

Mine is a bit outdated, but should be useful as a place to start.

25 lands seems like a lot. You're curving out at 4, so I don't think that high a land count is necessary. Otherwise, it looks solid.

What are the other "fake mtgo" programs, aside from cockatrice? Not interested in investing in mtgo, but would like to practice some modern/legacy.
April 2, 2017 10:15 a.m.
Bovine073 thanks! is one more popular than the other? Does one have a reputation for being more competitive? And do you know where to download them?
April 2, 2017 2:51 p.m.
kyuuri117 I believe xmage/Cockatrice are the two most popular out of the lot. Not sure about untap.in and how to download it. I have downloaded but failed to install xmage, a simple google search should suffice.
April 2, 2017 3:29 p.m.
The beauty of untap.in is that there is no download, it runs purely in browser. It's the only format that allows tablet users to play. I think it prefers chrome beta, but verification is needed on that.

UrbanAnathema says... #23
Trice is more competitive than Untap. Untap is better if you're playing at work. MTGO is the best competition period. The stakes are real there. I have taken the plunge and I have to say, it's been a lot of fun.
April 3, 2017 5:33 p.m.
elpokitolama says... #24
The problem with untap is the incredible lag... But I'm not sure if it's only because I'm european. Cockatrice is harder to use and a bit uglier, but there's more competition here and less potential for misclicks. And well, even if it needs a major rework MTGO is still the best... but in its current form I don't feel like I want to put my money on it.
April 3, 2017 5:45 p.m.
UrbanAnathema says... #25
The MTGO interface isn't as bad as I thought, though it takes some getting used to. Once you're doing Leagues regularly if you're any good you can begin to turn a profit. At that point playing MTG is making you money, and I'm good with that.

My problem is getting over the initial investment of getting a deck on MTGO. I just can't seem to justify buying digital cards after playing lots of Hearthstone.
April 3, 2017 10:13 p.m.
EpicFreddi says... #27
thats why I use MTGO only for cubes and draftes. I get my money back through playing well, thus I dont mind as much.
April 4, 2017 4:40 a.m.
UrbanAnathema says... #28
The initial investment is a tough one to bear, but consider that you can cash out at anytime for about 84% of value.
April 4, 2017 10:36 a.m.
At this point, I've made far more than I've spent on it, so I don't even think about my initial investment. Well worth it.

Do any of you that use MTGO also heavily play paper magic as well? I'm trying to justify buying all the recently-reprinted staples in MM3, and feel like anything additional online would be a little much. The reason I'm asking is b/c I just payed the $10 to download MTGO a few days ago, and planned on just playing momir or pauper or something with friends who have it, but my true love is Modern (of course).
April 4, 2017 10:52 a.m.
EpicFreddi says... #31
If you like to play modern, ask your friends to share a deck. Otherwise I think it's not justified to dump 300Dollar into a bad program.
MTGO is more than worth it for draft, pauper, momir or EDH, but I think modern is better to play in Paper to have value.
April 4, 2017 11:02 a.m.
SwaggyMcSwagglepants says... #32
Yeah. Cube and pauper are really the best reasons to play MTGO. Although limited certainly is another good reason.

Why is this thread not exploding after seeing the new gideon?
1WW. 3 loyalty. +1, target permanent can't deal damage til your next turn. +0, gideon becomes a 4:4 indestructible creature. +0, get an emblem that says you can't lose the game and your opponent can't win the game as long as you control a gideon.

New Gideon looks like one of the billion mtgcardsmith nukes. What is this thing? It shouldn't be real.
April 5, 2017 11:06 a.m.
It's new tech for AND against ad naus, which is hilarious.
I've been saying for months that someone should slam ally of zendikar as a four of in modern, the card is clearly good enough. This just gives you more reason to run them.
I was gonna try and pick up some chalice's to build sun and moon in modern this weekend at scg Worcester, that priority just became higher.
April 5, 2017 11:20 a.m. Edited.
I don't see how it's tech for Ad Nauseam, unless the deck decides to retool around it. On the other hand, facing it would be the deck's worst nightmare.
I think the card is solid, but apart from mono- Taxes and maybe Control I'm struggling to find a home for it.
April 5, 2017 11:55 a.m.
elpokitolama says... #40
Welp, talking about Ad Nauseam, a new answer to the deck has been spoiled... The new Gideon is basically a Platinum Angel.
[edit] seems like I was late to the party... Yeah, I can definitively smell those mtgcardsmith vibes. And yeah, I'll definitively play 2-3 copies of him in Death 'n Taxes. x)
April 5, 2017 11:59 a.m. Edited.
rothgar13 im pretty sure new gideon slots right into sun/moon. At least, that's what I want to do with it, and why I want chalices.

You have a point there. It might be pretty good if you can keep the board clean with sweepers.

Aside from the sideboard, Gifts Ungiven storm is a very cheap deck. However, it's really hard to pilot skill wise. Mono White Death and Taxes or Merfolk are also an option, the only expensive card they have being Aether Vial. Mono red burn is extremly cheap, especially since Goblin Guide's reprint. If you forget about the Horizon Canopy, boggles is both cheap and easy to play. :)

So is anyone familiar with the U/W sun titan deck? If so how does as foretold + Restore Balance/Ancestral Vision sound?
Followed up of course by a control shell but yeah
EverythingIsK says... #1
That's fair. It was a 4 of main at my local meta. Thought mine was unique like that haha.
The things roast misses are titans, wurms, and shadows/goyfs bigger that 5. That's really it, but it's still tiresome.
