Worst display ever....?

Okay, so I only need to crack 14 more of my packs in my display, before I have cracked them all. But until now, every damn card has been shit.

Yea, let me give you my best cards: Sidisi, Brood Tyrant, Anafenza, the Foremost, Siege Rhino, Savage Knuckleblade and a foil Ankle Shanker..... Well, I wouldn't even say, that the first 2 cards are good... Cause, they are taking up a mythic slot. Oh, and I also got a Empty the Pits. Any wasted mythic slot.... ;_;

So, 14 more packs to go. Will I be seeing anything good? Is it really possible not to open a single +4$ card in a display? Has this happened to anyone?

I once had a return to ravnica box were I got 30 packs in and was in a very similar situation to you. But then I pulled Foil Jace, Architect of Thought, foil Temple Garden and I was happy with the box.

But hey, for every great box, there's got to be a bad one, and sometimes you just don't get lucky.

The worst thing is actually, that this is my first box. If I still keeps opening shit, I might never buy a box again....

Doesn't WotC like make the boxes, so you get a good amount of value in each one?

Boxes aren't supposed to get value. I love opening them despite that, but usually you only make 70% of the money you spent on the box. but I've seen a box with a foil Treasure Cruise, a foil Dig Through Time, and even more. The average number of mythics is 4, so if that helps give you a scale then i guess you're welcome.

Just be aware that the only boxes you ever hear of people opening are the good ones. Bad boxes happen.

Also, it might be a better idea to just not buy boxes because of the fact that you dont always get your value out of them and the money is just better spent elsewhere.

I've gotten bad boxes, I've gotten good boxes.

I got 3 boxes of alternate language Khans recently: A Russian, a Korean and a Japanese box.

The Japanese box had about 30 bucks in value in it. Seriously, there was 1 fetch in the entire box, and no foils of any remote value. (Price of box: 150)

The Korean box had a foil Siege Rhino, which may be worth something in the future, and a few fetches, but not enough to nearly recoup the cost of the box. (Price of box: 180)

The Russian box had a foil Treasure Cruise, a foil Monastery Swiftspear and a foil Polluted Delta on top of 4 fetches. (price of box: 220)

I def. lucked out, but sometimes some boxes are just crap. Simple as that.

I bought a box of Modern Masters, before they spiked (hell, before the set was even released) and with the current prices of MMA commons.... I break exactly even on it.

As said, the only boxes you hear about are the good ones. The bad happen more often than not.

I just spend the money I would've spent on boxes on singles instead.

To expand on what vampire said, take worldwake for example. Nobody goes onto the forums screaming, "omg I just opened Seer's Sundial and Selective Memory! People are posting how they opened the god pack of two Jace, the Mind Sculptor or Stoneforge Mystic.

I would like to point out that Siege Rhino is apparently good in standard and modern...

Siege Rhino ain't a bad pull. BGx is making a resurgence in Modern by running 4. You may be surprised to see what the price is, awhile from now.

I don't think there is such thing as a "mythic slot" in a box. I am pretty sure it is possible to get all mythics or zero mythics. With 14 packs left, you might get something good. That is almost half of the box. The only box I ever opened was RTR, and I pulled a Vraska the Unseen in my last pack. (This is back when it was about $20).

Nothing in khans really has value, all the mystics are worth less than the blue fetches lol khans isnt good for value its just a lottery ticket for foils which even tben will help you just break even

What is a "display"?

@mckin I disagree, a cycle of 5 rares that are each over $10 is pretty good. Dig Through Time is pretty good too. You have a fair chance of getting value in a pack. (Siege Rhino and Jeskai Ascendancy are okay too).

It's just a booster box.

SimicPower

5 rares out of like 100 is horrible. And a couple of cards that match pack retail value don't make for a good value set. Khans has 269 cards in it, and you as the person defending its value opening-wise only listed 8 cards that make opening a pack worth it. Seems super bad to me.

When JOU was released boxes contained "God" packs containing all the gods just by chance.

I personally wouldn't ever buy a box of Khans. Its cheaper just to buy the fetches. Only box IMO worth buying for value currently available is RTR.

Did u buy something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Return-to-Ravnica-partial-booster-display-box-of-24-sealed-packs-Magic-MTG-2012-/281525630850?pt=Trading_Card_Games_US&hash=item418c3c3782 or did u buy a sealed box from a retail outlet of some sort?

If you're buying from ebay & your box is complete shit it's quite possible it was pillfard in some way. I know that box mapping used to exist pre-khans and while I assume WOTC has done something to prevent the method that was being used, it's possible that A) a new method has already been determined. (old method stemmed from watching people open boxes on youtube after all) or B) some one is simply weighing the packs & pulling the ones containing foils.
