Mardu on the rise!

Hey All, So Mardu had a solid showing over the weekend on the Pro-Tables. Gaining ground against Abzan and Jeskai decks.
Financially, this means that there are some cards sitting around in your board or binder that could see gains this week.
Crackling Doom Still think this beauty of a removal spell is under rated.Currently sitting at $2 I think this is a VERY solid buy right now. Could easily, and quickly jump to $5-$6+ even more. Grab em while you can.
Butcher of the Horde - With most Mardu Midrange decks running running Butcher as a 4of for the primary wincon, this guy is poised to spike! Currently available in the $3 range he could see a quick spike to similar of Crackling Doom to the $5-$6 range again, potentially even hitting $10 if he keeps running.
The walkers of Khans are both in the Mardu mid-range builds on and off, I dont think this will effect their overall price tag to much. It looks like they are both stabilizing around the $30 mark. Long term I think Sorin, Solemn Visitor will surpass Sarkhan in price.
This will also keep burn expensive for now. Stoke the Flames will not be dropping any time soon.
Small note on value uncommons.
Nyx-Fleece Ram This sheep I tell you. I kept multiple playsets from my Nyx box buying days and glad I did. It is seeing play in multiple decks with a price of $2.50 and foils running upwards of $8-$10! I am not sure if it goes any higher, but if you have em and not using them, now may be your time to dump.
Monastery Swiftspear Been showing in multiple decks as the 1drop of choice, again pushing this uncommons value to over $2. Same as the Ram, not sure if it moves higher from here or not, but if you have em in bulk now might be the time to trade em all for a piece you need.
Final note, Card to watch is Goblin Rabblemaster This is guy is still seeing play, but could be cycled the meta is changing fast. If he does, he could take a sharp drop in price. Remember this guy was less then a $2 for some time. Watch closely and do what you feel is right!
There were some other very interesting events that transpired. Sidisi's Whip Deck came out in force, that could cause spikes there as well. R/G Monsters also still showed its a thing using the jankiness of Hornet Nest and Hornet Queen to keep control.
Coverage from the weekends evens can be read here http://blog.mtgprice.com/2014/10/25/weekend-tournament-coverage-oct-24-26th/ on the coverage written by James Chillcott
Hes solid, I really like him. but I dont think he is going to break above $5-$6, not for now anyway.

It's interesting that the foil Butcher of the Horde is only 9 dollars.
October 26, 2014 10:39 a.m.
Thats a solid investment I would say. Mardu is hear to stay by the looks of things and Mardu needs Butcher. If the non-foil is rising its safe to assume the foil will will do the same.
Could be wrong, Rakshasa Deathdealer was a prime example, as is Polukranos, World Eater of a standard and a foil fetching pretty close to the same value.

I'm glad i picked my dooms and butcher early but not i can't seenm to get rid of this rabblemaster i picked up. Things are looking grim for him

VampireArmy I am still running my 4of for now in my Mardu build as he does fit in the build. But I am watching him very closely if he starts to drop I am liquidating. I bought at like $13 and I am not looking to take a loss on them :)
Great thing about the Mardu Mid-Range builds and Goblin Rabblemaster is that he fits, and he works, but can be replaced. I would not go as far as to call him a "Staple" in Mardu Mid-Range but he is a solid piece.
Bloodsoaked Champion + Butcher of the Horde essentially gets the same results as Goblin Rabblemaster + Butcher of the Horde and the Rabblemaster is never really used for his "Overbuff" ability as the Tokens never stick around long enough to help him.

Yeah, my only issue in testing is brimaz has just been out performing him in every way. Then again my list is more about controlling
October 26, 2014 12:09 p.m.
Brimaz, King of Oreskos is pretty valuable in the build thats for sure. I run him as a 2of.
With all the removal floating around in the meta right now though, it makes Brimaz a quick target if they cannot answer him right away though, things get out of hand very quickly.

Also just wanted to say crackling doom is modern playable. I've yet to be disappointed in it since they really never actually have a choice

Crackling Doom is arguably my favorite card from Khans. Its sooooo good.
October 26, 2014 12:21 p.m.
I love Crackling Doom and been waiting for it to gain popularity. Glad I pulled x7 and x1 FOIL already!

I run 4of mainboard, 2 are foiled up. Still looking for the 2 more, its a really nice looking foil. I have I think 4-6 more in the binder :) I have been hoarding them banking on them going up.
October 26, 2014 4:25 p.m.
I agree it is a super nice looking foil. Besides FOIL Crackling Doom I like FOIL Clever Impersonator and love FOIL Flooded Strand

@VampireArmy you can get Rabblemaster's bonus and sac tokens to Butcher. Rabblemaster gets his bonus when he attacks, so you can sac your tokens after it resolves. Similarly you can use Rabblemaster to proc Mardu Ascendancy and the token to buff Rabblemaster.

I just want everyone to know that Goblin Rabblemaster has been sinking ever since it's October peak of a $20 mid. Currently, lows are around $16 and mid is $18. I've never once been able to get in a swing with Goblin Rabblemaster , and if anything he is used for his tokens with Butcher of the Horde . If Butcher of the Horde didn't exist, Goblin Rabblemaster would be a lot cheaper. The reason for this is, is that Goblin Rabblemaster has no evasion, and can be blocked to death by practically everything, his 2 toughness makes him really weak like that.
If the rabble goes down one or two bucks more, I'm chucking him for Hordeling Outburst . They do pretty much the same thing in the end anyways.

Femme_Fatale Been thinking the exact same thing.
Listen up people, she speaks truth.

Sold mine at 20. Didn't really think the hype would last.

I actually run Goblin Rabblemaster - Hordeling Outburst and Butcher of the Horde in a deck with Purphoros, God of the Forge . I love all the little critters they make.

What I'm going to do in my current build, is swap 3x Goblin Rabblemaster , 1x Chief of the Scale and 1x Ruthless Ripper for 3x Raise the Alarm and 2x Hordeling Outburst . Instant speed blocking tokens for combat tricks, and Hordeling Outburst makes much more of a board presence without painting a large target on its head then Goblin Rabblemaster ever will.

Check that, all the Ruthless Ripper s are going, and I'm keeping the full Chief of the Scale playset in there and upping one Seeker of the Way to a full playset.

Cool, I like Mardu. What do you think it's recent showing will do for Bloodsoaked Champion ?
