Ideas for Teneb The Harvester Deck
Commander Deck Help forum

Found a copy of Teneb, the Harvester at my LGS and thought he looked intersting so I picked him up. What are the best ways to build him? What are some non-conventional or oddball ways to build him?
P.S I don't want to just EDHrec and build a deck around those cards. I want solid opinions on why some cards are necessary in the deck. Thanks!
Thanks for the ideas! I have an unused Whispersilk cloak lying around! How do you feel about Unquestioned Authority?

If you're really wanting to build a deck around him, then try for things like trample-enablers. I couldn't name any off the top of my head, but they're out there.
I'd look for Entomb effects like Buried Alive and Survival of the Fittest. Drop fatties like Iona, Shield of Emeria, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, and Craterhoof Behemoth. Mana dorks are super important and typically better than artifact ramp because of your graveyard theme. Since it's a creature-based deck, you can check out Thorn of Amethyst, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Vryn Wingmare, and Glowrider. For removal, creatures are always a good way to go. See Reclamation Sage, Ashen Rider, and Acidic Slime. Hope this helps. It's not the same commander, but my Ghostly Deer-Daddy deck has a few things you could look at. It's more combo-centric though, so keep that in mind as you look through it for ideas.

Rancor Perhaps? Lol.
Entomb effects are definitely on my list but seeing as I'm not trying to break the bank on any one card I don't think I can go for some cards like Survival of the Fittest or Thorn of Amethyst. Thanks for all the suggestions though! I'll definitely look into your Karador deck to get some Ideas!

I'd copy your Karador list (including Karador as my commander) but my pod isn't that cutthroat. No one would play with me :P

Yeah it's aiming for more competitive play lol. I'm glad you like it though. However, I should note that I started with Teneb, the Harvester at the helm. The reason I opted out is that so many slots were dedicated to evasion that it wasn't really worth it. Karador is often considered the worst card in the deck, but he does grant a "second hand" through the graveyard, which is a huge relief when you're approaching the late game and a lot of your options are gone.

@arcaneful that enchantment seems great. It doesn't require an equipped cost, but can't be reused if teneb is killed someway, so it has it's ups and downs. However, I can't say 100% how it'll do since it's barely even been six months since I've started playing, plus match ups like artifact, creature, and enchantment hate are still a problem. Also, maybe use some destroy spells just for some back up large creature, and flying creature takedowns.

I Believe, as with all dragons of teneb's nature, you should use some unblockable equipment or auras. This makes it possible for it to deal combat damage every turn, in addition to providing commander damage. One of my favorites is Whispersilk Cloak. This gives the equipped creature Shroud, while making it unblockable, so your opponent can't just target it with a destroy spell or anything. Another one that's nice is Prowler's Helm. It makes the equipped creature only blockable by walls, but since teneb is flying, it makes it technically unblockable since most walls don't have flying or reach. Or there's Skyblinder Staff Which makes it so creatures with flying can't block the equipped creature, making teneb unblockable unless they have a reach creature or enchantment that takes his flying ability. However, if you use this technique, the creatures you conjure back from the graveyards won't do much except be blockers since teneb will kill your opponent in four turns at the most if left unanswered, making him the top priorty for your opponent(s).
