Getting rid of randomness —June 13, 2022
After a couple of gaming sessions, I've had enough: I took out Splinterfright, Selective Adaptation and Deadbridge Chant. After collecting a good amount of graveyard tutors within this deck i was nothing but disgusted by the randomness that these cards are bringing to the table. Since this deck wants quality over quantity in the graveyard i usually ended up putting cards in the graveyard that i rather prefer having in my hand. So i got rid of all of them! I also took out Daring Fiendbonder. The indestructible counter is handy, but it doesn't really give any synergy to the rest of the things i am doing.
So what did i put in? First of all i was looking for a creature that is a) a nice beatstick and b) something that values my already very present flicker mechanic and i found Shadowgrange Archfiend. Its removal ability is insane as it evades all kind of hexproof, indestructible or protection sheneangans and usually targets the biggest threads on the board nevertheless. And i even get some life out of it. Awesome!
With my other new addition Fauna Shaman, bringing the demon in for its madness cost won't even be a big issue as well. But this guy can do more than that as it is an excellent toolkit at any stage of the game.
Found a Beast Whisperer so i put it in because card draw is always nice.
last but not least i added Liliana, Dreadhorde General. Not because it perfectly fits, but because i got it as a gift and i didn't want her to just sit in the shelves. You might complain that there are better options, but this one will stay in for the lols.
Also added Rogue's Passage because making a voltron commander unblockable could be a decisive advantage.

If you want to lower the curve, I'd start with cards like Deadbridge Chant and Selective Adaptation. Neither are very good, and the Chant has never performed for me like I wanted it to. Running two mana ramp is a good way to go, too, but it tends to get pricier. Three Visits, Rampant Growth, and Nature's Lore are good two mana ramp cards. Your next alternative is to sub in some cheaper CMC reanimation spells, like Animate Dead, Dance of the Dead, Necromancy (pricy), Reanimate (pricy), Stitch Together (situational, but probably manageable in this deck), and Exhume.
Something to keep in mind, though, about your curve, is that although it's floating around 4, you aren't planning on casting quite a few of the spells in the deck. So your decks CMC is inflated, so to speak. Just bear that in mind.
