Trying to develop a competitive pauper deck.

I took the Modern Skred Red archetype and tried to build similarly. I noticed many decks in pauper seem to be build in a way to swarm the opponent. After all, there are just too many aggro pauper decks around, it seems.

So, I came up with this idea to try a Big Red in pauper.

Pingers control the board and deal damage

Sweepers take down swarms of threats

The rest of the deck is kind of self-explanatory. You can finish the opponent off by ping/direct damage. A secondary wincon is the usage of Boiling Earth 's Awaken to generate a land that can beat down the opponent.

Consistency in the deck is maintained by Scry (present in Scouring Sands and Spark Jolt ) and draw (present in Forgotten Cave and Pyrite Spellbomb ). Flame Jab is a way to care of mana-flooding.

  • Elves

  • Infect

  • Izzet Combo

Current Bad Matchups:

  • Affinity (G1) (need artifact destruction)

  • Mono Black (need more damage to take down their creatures)

I am currently testing this deck against the various decks in pauper in order to identify weaknesses and correct them. Also in order to find out the good, bad and just matchups.

For that, I am running at least 4 games against each of the current tier decks in pauper in this very platform and taking note of what i think of it in the description of the deck. But help is always welcome.

Anyways, have a nice topdecking.
