I want to build a Nekusar EDH, and this looks pretty good. Forced Fruition works wonders with the commander (opponent plays a spell: loses 7 life). All of the storm is pretty sweet also, especially in the late game. Group hug draw cards such as Dictate of Kruphix and Kami of the Crescent Moon work well with Nekusar as well. Good luck turning what people hold dear into a weapon!

@Berrin7 I totally forgot about Forced Fruition - I'll have to work that in somehow. Originally, I started this deck with the intention of keeping everything cheap and maximizing combos using Aetherflux Reservoir to go for the kill. I quickly realized that just lifegain, storm, and 0 drops weren't enough to make an EDH deck off of, and that Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge wouldn't work as well I had originally thought. So, I added the draw mechanic and switched to Nekusar. To further round things out, I also incorporated a couple other card abilities that worked with the original quick, cheap spells I had made a foundation off of (rebound, dash, phyrexian mana, and surge).
I've played it about 5 times now, and it's different between 1v1 and multiplayer, but it either works really fast, or just so-so. I'm thinking it might need three more creatures or so, more ramp, and more refinement of the combos so only a couple parts need to be out to still work effectively. Forcing draw and punishing for it has been working every time, so adding more to that isn't a concern currently. I'll probably end up cutting Blood Tyrant and Ground Rift.
Honestly, I need to figure out how to nuance things better in play and what works as an effective response in different situations. Even though I built it, I'm still confused by parts of it haha.

I forgot to mention: Jace, Memory Adept's ultimate is ridiculous with Nekusar, so that might be something to consider. Also, Stormbreath Dragon takes advantage of your opponents' massively overfed hands as well as being a big creature. If you need more creatures, that could do quite well.

Waste Not is needed in Nekuzar the Mindraper

@The_Grape yes, it absolutely is. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

i know it may not be the best idea but i feel like Ob Nixilis Reignited would work well for a little extra draw burn, maybe Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind too

Both are a really good choice, but Nekuzar the Mind Raper decks normally go 2 ways. Either forced discar, or severe hand limitation with some forced draw. The Firemind would be beneficial, especially with an enchantment or something that causes opponents to discard based on your draw.

@VampiricMoon - Niv-Mizzet will definitely end up going in. I'm still working on balancing the mechanics in this deck and figuring out how to optimize all of them (see second comment haha). All of these suggestions have been really helpful! I typically play multiplayer with EDH, so I'm always tentative putting in cards that only target one thing (like good ol' Ob), but it's still necessary to have stuff like that in. Thanks for the suggestions!!!
@The_Grape - I never thought of going the discard route, partly because I feel like it can be pretty easy to get around, but mostly because I didn't think about it at any point in the weird process that has been making this deck (second comment again lol).

I run a Firemind deck, so this is literally the bane of it. Along with Leovold lol. But I suggest getting wheels if you want to run discard, and the wheels still help going the draw death route.

@The_Grape - Leovold ruins many beautiful things haha. When I first started makign the deck, I thought about throwing in Teferi's Puzzle Box, which is the same idea as Arjun, but I'm nervous about loosing the ability to hoard low cmc cards and hit off storm if I recycle my hand. Also, effects that tim globally on drawing (like Phyrexian Tyranny) would make me eat it pretty hard. It could still work if I had enough life gain running in the background to compensate. A fine line with a dangerous fall, to be sure.

In my Nekusar (Zombies Walk EDH), I only run a few high value effects to take advantage of his ability. This definitely helps throw people off so that they don't react so negatively to him.
Archmage Ascension - if this gets active, should be game over
Curiosity - almost turns him into a mini-Consecrated Sphinx
Sigil of Sleep - light control
Elder Mastery - gross lock if no one can answer
Helm of the Ghastlord - both sides relevant

@shaistyone - Awesome suggestions! I definitely need to work on leveraging Nek better. I kinda made the deck then threw him in, and I've been thinking of rehauling ever since. I'll definitely work in more damage triggers, since they work so beautifully with his ability! I should be able to finally trim down that maybeboard and seriously edit this soon, heh. Thanks for your help!

Awesome deck! Thanks for this, you have given me a few ideas for my deck, Nekusar Knows All. +1 for sure.

Nice to see another Nekusar deck without every wheel in the game. I took it as a challenge when I started seeing damn near every Nekusar deck on this site running almost every wheel in the game. I don’t have a single wheel in mine.
