Hello fellow Zirilan player! We have a lot of overlap between our lists: Zirilan of the Claw dragon fatty boom boom

Only suggestion would be tighten up your list of dragons and diversify your lands.

Hi SufferFromEDHD,

Thanks for your comment. About the Dragons, we're actually quite happy with them right now, but you did bring our attention to a mistake in our current decklist. It has just been amended.

As for diversifying the lands; we could also add Cavern of Souls and definitely High Market and Homeward Path, but we're not much of a fan of some of the other utility lands your deck uses.

With regards,

Mrs and Mr NV_1980

What mistake was corrected?

Hellkite Igniter and Hoarding Dragon are what stood out as weak dragons. Moonveil Dragon , Scourge of the Throne or Thunderbreak Regent fit a utility role currently missing from your Zirilan package.

Akoum Hellkite and/or Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle seem appropriate for a mono red deck with 24 mountains.

Is Molten Disaster not a better upgrade to Earthquake? Split second is a powerful ability.

Hi,

Our apologies. We thought we had put in Thunder Dragon by mistake, but we actually like him a lot.

Moonveil dragon does not fit well in here as we rarely have more than a few dragons at the time on the field. Would be awesome in a token deck though. Scourge of the Throne is in here. The other cards you mention are all cards we do not own but could be worth looking into. We'll think it over. Thanks.

I live this brew so much. My buddy is only one I know who runs Z as his commander. Such a cool, old-school boy to run dragons with!

Thank you McToters! Much appreciated. In my experience, very few players know he even exists and love it when I showcase his advantages in matches. That tutoring ability of his can be sooo strong. Played him again recently and was surprised to find myself tutoring for the first dragon on turn 3 and wiping out the first opponent by turn 6.

Hello again fellow Zirilan enthusiast. Just gonna spitball some ideas because we have so much overlap;

Arena of Glory new toy

Madblind Mountain weird card from an overlooked uncommon cycle. Great synergy with Sensei's Divining Top or Scroll Rack

Fault Line instant speed Earthquake.

Fury of the Horde sneaky tech. Has won me so many games.

Defense Grid or Price of Glory you aren't bothering your opponents, they shouldn't bother you!

Thank you for the upvote SufferFromEDHD, and your suggestions of course. I like Fault Line the most, but currently don't own one and it's difficult to come by where I come from. The lands you're suggesting seem fun too, though I'm trying to limit lands that enter tapped in this deck. Fury of the Horde would make more sense in a deck that focuses on additional attacks/phases per turn; not really this deck's thing. Grid and Glory I will remain sideboard options, which will be added in certain counter-heavy pods.

I'm gonna push back on Fury of the Horde. It's a surprise game ending silver bullet. For example, going alphabetically take the first 4 dragons in your list. They all have combat step triggers. You have multiple ways of untapping Zirilan and you are running the best enchantments for cheating creatures too. Now you can tap out and win a turn earlier!

I missed it first time around but Gamble might be worthy of a spot.

Your reasoning for including Fury of the Horde is sound. I'll make a note to try it out at some point in the pods I frequent. If it performs as well as you say, I'll consider adding it to the base-list you see above. I'm not going to include Gamble; too many bad experiences with this card.
