Rocco, Street Chef
Legendary Creature — Elf Druid
At the beginning of your end step, each player exiles the top card of their library. Until your next end step, each player may play the card they exiled this way.
Whenever a player plays a land from exile or casts a spell from exile, you put a +1/+1 counter on target creature and create a Food token. (It's a colourless artifact with ", , Sacrifice this artifact: You gain 3 life.")
Crow_Umbra on Is Enchantment Destruction in Black …
3 months ago
I'm pretty excited for Withering Torment in my Black aligned decks that don't have access to White or Green. Three mana is hefty, but it's not nearly as flexible as something like Stroke of Midnight, for a comparable CMC & rarity. I wouldn't replace Feed the Swarm, but might run it as a compliment in more Grixis leaning color combos.
Picking the option to destroy a creature feels less ideal, especially when compared to other creature-centric removal options in Black like Bitter Triumph, Go for the Throat, or Infernal Grasp. If anything, Withering Torment is just Infernal Grasp with enchantment removal stapled onto it for 1 more mana.
I'm seeing more artifact heavy commanders more frequently in my main play group, like Brenard, Ginger Sculptor, Ygra, Eater of All, a Dr. Who Historic Duo, and Rocco, Street Chef, to name a few. Given this uptick in these varied artifact strats, I'm shifting towards more artifact punishing interaction or removal, than I am enchantment focused stuff.

I'm still tinkering. Something about all the crazy exile play loops feels unique and interesting. Should just trash the deck but... there's something about it.
I feel like Jodah, the Unifier gives a top end threat that it was missing.
One problem with Jodah is that when I'm casting a legend, they're usually mana value 3, and I only have Doc Aurlock, Grizzled Genius to pay off Jodah's trigger. But The Goose Mother is another play at mana value 2 that surprisingly fits in very well with the rest of the deck (especially with Rocco, Street Chef and Aurlock). I always wanted goose mommy to be good somewhere so I'm happy to try it. If you get some food artifacts in play, Loot, the Key to Everything accelerates.
I had to admit that with all the legends I'm kinda committed to a Relic of Legends mana fixer. Once the relic's in play that helps goose mommy too.
With the changes, the threat level of the deck's plays seem to be a good step higher. But the deck is insanely hard to pilot. Sequencing between Jodah's trigger and Kellan's trigger and discover triggers and the Outcaster's card draws and plotting and play from exile and generating foods and on and on. It's harder than combat mathing for real.
There's a good argument for cutting one of the angles. Like cut the adventure stuff, or cut the discover stuff. Or cut the plotting stuff? It's really hard to say.

Felipix That's not a bad suggestion, but I already have the deck lined out except for the commander, and Rocco, Street Chef would ask for a big overhaul. There aren't a ton of creatures or token generators in the deck, and I think more often than not Rocco would help my opponents more than me. Do Not Mistake Peace For Passivity The focus is more on prison/damage than on land destruction. Rocco is a fun idea for a more dedicated deck, though.
My other deck ideas up there are still in the concepting stage, so any thoughts are welcome. Mostly, and kind of sidestepping the purpose of this thread, I'm looking for super-specific cards that simply don't exist, and accepting filler commanders in the meantime. (I really want more four-color options.)

legendofa I know you say enchantments and not land destruction but you look at Rocco, Street Chef? I think that combo you say for naya enchantments can work very well with LD

After some more testing, I felt some changes are needed.
Rocco, Street Chef works way better than expected. I feel it has to be in the deck. Even with it forcing a green mana requirement in a Jeskai colors deck that's already struggling with color consistency. It's that crazy.
To try to make it fit better, I swapped out 2xEdgewall Inn and 2xMishra's Foundry with 2xPlaza of Heroes and 2 Restless lands (Restless Bivouac/Restless Anchorage). I wasn't needing the adventure recycle from the Inn in testing but I was getting reasonable color mana value from Plaza. The Foundry is stronger in a creature land role than the Restless lands. I usually find myself with little mana left open to animate a land, so Foundry worked while Restless lands are usually too expensive, but the color fixing on the Restless lands are helping. It's a tradeoff.
I also feel like more needed to be done for mana consistency. Too many mana screw hands were showing up on 23 lands. I tried out Buried Treasure and they're working. They help ramp out a 5-cost spell (especially Quintorius Kand) or mana fix for a Rocco or one of the double-color spells, and the Discover 5 on the back end also flows naturally with the deck's flow. I took out 1xGeological Appraiser and 1xVenerable Warsinger. The Appraiser is maybe the weakest card even though the Discover 3 on cast ETB is absolutely necessary. And the Warsinger is good but getting multiples out tends to stall your gameplan in ways that put you in bad situations.
Lastly, tests with Aether Channeler were giving good results. It leveled up the tempo defensive game that feeds into successfully reaching for a couple more cards/turns before things get too bleak. In tests, that was consistently exactly what the deck needed to stabilize from early disadvantages from faster opponents. I took out the Imodane's Recruiter and reduced Ojer Pakpatiq, Deepest Epoch Flip to 1x to fit a couple in. The Recruiter is explosive the turn it shows up but almost a complete blank after that. You almost always prefer to Discover into a Channeler instead of a Recruiter. Pakpatiq does struggle some by how instants need to be cast from hand to get the fun rebound tricks online, (and becomes worse with Rocco), so 2x was probably too much. But I still want access to it to get cheap virtues out.

Comment incoming shortly AWebb, and I'll check out your deck as well, Massacar, since it looks like you never got a comment.
Here is my new list built around abusing Rocco, Street Chef's play from exile and food creation abilities. I am currently trying to make the final three cuts and am stumped on what to remove. I'd love some feedback on what cards folks think I could cut.
