Hylda of the Icy Crown

Legendary Creature — Human Warlock

Whenever you tap an untapped creature an opponent controls, you may pay . When you do, choose one —

  • Create a 4/4 white and blue Elemental creature token.
  • Put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control.
  • Scry 2, then draw a card. (Look at the top two cards of your library, then put any number of them on top or bottom of your library in any order.)

Hello Dani3377 I appreciate the suggestions! I will give them a shot.

Haha - agreed! This deck is surprisingly fun and rewarding to play! I always wanted to utilize the tap mechanic in full force and Hylda of the Icy Crown was a perfect finisher to build around! Glad to hear you enjoy the deck!

I'd love me some redundancy for Opposition in Hylda of the Icy Crown. Skaab Wrangler is already in there, and I just found out there is Sandsower. But both of those are pretty expensive to activate. Sooo...

Blizzard Dome

Enchantment

At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice ~ unless you pay .

Tap two untapped creatures you control: Tap target creature you don't control and put a stun counter on it.

Create a permanent card with a cost to keep around.

While it might be the case cards are getting more proactive, WoTC are still releasing some great defensive tools. Hylda of the Icy Crown is a very powerful commander for defensive decks. She made many of the released stun effects usable and gives a way to turn them into a win. Seen in conjunction with stun counters, that deck is only gonna get better.

It's Friday Nights around here (Wisconsin) but love the theme of this deck.

I always wanted to build around Derevi, Empyrial Tactician because I thought it pairs well with Hylda of the Icy Crownaltered but I've only ever done one deck with her — Frozen

I got a merfolk deck I'm working on too — Submerged, though it's more based on Islandwalk + Merfolk tribal than just Merfolk.

Protection from permanents with counters.

Whenever ~ enters the battlefield or you cast a bat spell, put a -1/-1 on target creature you don't control.

It's the reason audibly counting can kill you.

Not so long ago, I wondered if I'd ever find an azorius commander I'd consider building. Shortly after, I built Raff, Weatherlight Stalwart, Shorikai, Genesis Engine and finally Hylda of the Icy Crown. Your challenge: Either creature a commander for yourself in a colour oder colour combination you usually dislike or create a card for a deck you have in these colours.

Generally, you take all relevant actions. Angel's Trumpet instructs you to tap the appropriate creatures, so Hylda of the Icy Crown will trigger.

Most cards aren't self-aware enough to take actions on their own behalf.
