Hey TappedOut--

Let's predict stuff about Born of the Gods!

If you get a prediction right, I will friend you and upvote all of your decks.

Here's one to start off:

I predict that the gods Pharika, Mogis, Xenegos, Iroas, and Ephara will be in Born of the Gods. The other five dual-color Gods will come later, in Journey into Nyx.

You?

I predict that there will most likely be a Legendary Enchantment Artifact for Mogis known as the Axe of Mogis.

I predict that tribal minotaurs will become more competitive, that Boros Reckoner will see an increase in price. And also that white devotion will become a thing

January 9, 2014 9:48 p.m.

EmblemMan says... #4

I predict that there will not be devotion for the 2 color gods because that will be too complicated and unplayable lol

January 9, 2014 9:49 p.m.

sadiuh says... #5

I believe the gods that will be in born of the gods are already confirmed, their names just arent stated and their abilities.

I predict there will be multicolored devotion, as in the half and half symbols (ex. Nightveil Specter ) that when they enter the battlefield you can do one thing for your devo to one color or the other. Example:

4 Black/red symbols When __ enters the battlefield choose one of the following. __ makes your opponent discard cards equal to half of your devotion to black. __ deals damage to your opponent equal to your devotion to red.

Not an actual card just an example.

sadiuh says... #6

Their names have been stated but not their FULL names. except Mogis god of violence

January 9, 2014 9:54 p.m.

kriskurse says... #7

I predict an Achilles type creature card, and a spell/enchantment that makes other permenants enchantments in addition to their other types. Maybe a functional Enchanted Evening reprint

JWiley129 says... #8

sadiuh - I think you mean Mogis, god of slaughter :)

January 9, 2014 10:05 p.m.

kriskurse says... #9

I'm pretty sure it's Mogis, god of Fear

January 9, 2014 10:08 p.m.

Servo_Token says... #10

In the overview that wizards posted on dailymtg today, it was stated to be Mogis, God of Slaughter.

January 9, 2014 10:11 p.m.

kriskurse says... #11

Meh. Fear sounds better to me. Lol

January 9, 2014 10:18 p.m.

Damnation or remand will see reprint

January 9, 2014 10:19 p.m.

HarbingerJK says... #13

I predict they will reprint Island

January 9, 2014 10:28 p.m.

ryuzaki32667 says... #14

I hope they do reprint Island , its cost way to much and no one at my lgs will trade me any, they all horde them

January 9, 2014 10:34 p.m.

maxon says... #15

at ryuzaki32667, i have some unlisted Island available for trade if you have some high value stuff in your binder. I'm not really looking to get rid of them, but if you need them we could work something out :P

January 9, 2014 10:38 p.m.

HarbingerJK says... #16

i don't blame them, most overpowered card in magic

January 9, 2014 10:38 p.m.

ryuzaki32667 says... #17

Would you trade one for a Storm Crow ?

January 9, 2014 10:42 p.m.

maxon says... #18

haha for real though, i'm thinking there's going to be some more discard love. especially since they mentioned Waste Not coming in m15. right now there's ashiok's ultimate, Drainpipe Vermin 's ablilty and Mind Rot that i can think up off the top of my head. (and convoluted stuff like Whispering Madness ) it they don't provide support for Waste Not it's just going to be a cool card that standard doesn't get to utilize, which i think will make more than a few people miffed cause it offers a lot of potential.

January 9, 2014 10:58 p.m.

kriskurse says... #19

I don't see either Damnation or Remand getting reprinted. damnation was printed in a set where color identity was switched around, I've heard of rumors of a "strictly better then infest" black boardwipe though.

kriskurse says... #20

maxon can't forget Rakdos's Return

January 9, 2014 11 p.m.

maxon says... #21

kriskurse yes! forgot that one

January 9, 2014 11:04 p.m.

i bet that Kiora, the Crashing Wave will drop below $10 by march 7th. i also bet that the next Ajani will be really powerful, stay around $20, and make selesnya a thing again

January 9, 2014 11:10 p.m.

I bet Bant will become very powerful and strong and will be the most played deck in the standard meta for the first month that the cards are out for. I also predict that each god will have there own Artifact Weapon like in Theros. Im also hoping we see more cards with Scry and some good multicolored cards in the Jund or Junk colours. Also, I hope there is a card that gets around Voice.

AussieBloke says... #24

Who else is hoping for a R/B Planeswalker that's better than Sharkon, The Mad. And I think Xenagos is a God in the next set.

January 9, 2014 11:23 p.m.

BlueSlime says... #25

I predict that they will not reprint Island because this is the second addition to the set.

January 9, 2014 11:29 p.m.

DobeNode says... #26

I predict BNG having the RTR color Demigods, a R/W Planeswalker (Gideon? Nah. Leonidas? Sure!), and a Mono-Black one. Journey will have the GTC demis (which includes Xenagos), the G/W Ajani everyone wants, a R/B Minotaur Planeswalker (tribal's gonna see a huge jump, imo) and a Mono-Blue Dack Fayden.

And hopefully, more cheap white bestow. At least, that's what I want.

January 9, 2014 11:38 p.m.

EmblemMan says... #27

Maybe some black hate cards? Like black hatin on other colors I cant remember seeing many of those lately but then again I dont watch black carefully at all

January 10, 2014 1:01 a.m.

pretickle says... #28

I predict that there will be a really over powered red-green devotion card that is like burningtree emissary and will give you one red and green mana for your devotion to RG.

January 10, 2014 1:08 a.m.

I predict gasp NO NEW DEVOTION! I feel devotion would get a little too complex in two colors, which I feel is gonna be a big thing in both BNG and JOU. I think everyone thinks there's gonna be more devotion because that's what standard is focusing on, but I don't think Wizards counted on it being as big as it is. Bestow, I believe, was what they were gunning to be theros's big mechanic, since mechanically it plays well with both devotion and heroic. Bestow is definitely going to be a focus. After all, it was originally designed for BNG anyways. Hopefully, it will become standard viable.Because it is a small set, I don't think we'll see any planeswalkers other than Kiora. I hope to see some fresh mechanics and a bit more white and red support. The next set of Gods will most likely be RTR colors (since Mogis has already been confirmed and considering the way the story is heading, with xenagos being painted as the enemy and elspeth having to "Journey into Nyx" to quite possibly defeat him; this would put Xenagos, who is of GTC colors, at the end of the story arch in JOU), and I also see the RTR scry lands being released.(although, for balancing's sake, they may choose to release the scry lands in JOU. as to keep standard from being flooded with only five guild's decks) Side note (for flavors sake!) the other, dual-colored gods will still be GODS, not demi-gods, since demi-gods are created from the union of a god and a mortal and thus are not fully divine. The BNG and JOU gods are still fully divine, and thusly not demi-gods. Finally, I hope to see standard shaken up quite a bit, and for WBR to be a thing again (Oh aristocrats, how I miss you so!)

January 10, 2014 1:54 a.m.

ryuzaki32667 says... #30

WBR can be a thing now, its basicly WBR good stuff

January 10, 2014 2:01 a.m.

PotatoPi says... #31

The minor gods don't get weapons. This has been confirmed by Maro.

January 10, 2014 2:35 a.m.

Really, I just miss the flavor that deck had (the vampires eat the humans to stay alive and kill the opponent.) I feel like WBR minotaurs will bring some good flavor back and make for a heck of a midrange deck.

January 10, 2014 2:36 a.m.

Korombos says... #33

I predict that there will be a satyr with enchantment-hate of some kind.

January 10, 2014 7:28 a.m.

Baycer says... #34

i predict they will print a new enchantress, probably W/G

im hoping they will print some cards that actually care about enchantments, at this point, RTR feels like a more enchantment focused set than theros, with Ethereal Armor , Sphere of Safety Mana Bloom .. etc. or at least something i can use for my Bant EDH

January 10, 2014 8:17 a.m.

Walrusyn says... #35

@AussieBloke I'd really like to see a R/B Planeswalker on BNG :) Crossing my fingers.

January 10, 2014 10:45 a.m.

Baycer says... #36

@Walrusyn well you are going to be disappointed, the planeswalkers are split 3/1/1 this block, and kiora is for BNG. You might get one in journey into nyx, however, it seems as though that will be an Ajani, from the promotional art

January 10, 2014 1:33 p.m.

Walrusyn says... #37

Fair enough :)

January 10, 2014 2:17 p.m.

Servo_Token says... #39

@multiplayer

RtR is, I believe, the only block so far that has done that. The rest (To my knowledge) have all had new arts for lands in a set.

The art for lands in BTG, i predict, will be similar in style to the THS ones, but showing slightly more turmoil and how everything is starting to go to sh*t.

cschiller says... #40

donatedwarrior9: IKR!!! It really kind of annoys me when people say demigods. That's only a named thing in the Percy Jackson books. Actual Greek Mythology labels some mortals as children of the gods, but NOT demigods.

January 10, 2014 5:25 p.m.

Korombos says... #41

demigods, semigods, paragods, and quasigods,

minor gods, major gods, father gods and mother gods,

aesir, vanir, jotun, troll,

bad gods, good gods (on a roll,)

olympians, chthonic gods, take your pick,

between megagods and microgods, the choices are thick,

since theros is not greece, anything can do the trick.

(capitalization avoided purposefully)

January 10, 2014 5:51 p.m.

Dalektable says... #42

sadiuh That made-up card makes me want to play Rakdos.

January 10, 2014 6:17 p.m.

Arachnarchist says... #43

cschiller it seems unlikely that they would have 3 gods that share one color.

I predict that the minor gods will follow neither an ally/enemy split, nor the RtR/Gatecrash split. I predict the planeswalker in the third set (Yes most likely Ajani) will be Red/White.

Also, Demigods are literally children of the gods, half-god, half-mortal (at least in greek mythology, but we are talking about theros . . .). Not to be confused with Minor gods, who are simply less powerful.

January 10, 2014 7:46 p.m.

My predictions (well, really they're mostly my hopes) are as follows:

The rumored "strictly-better Infest" is printed alongside some things that'll protect against or at least weather the effects of this spell, because hot damn an Infest that hits for -3/-3 or is at instant speed completely annihilates my Boros aggro deck.

Mono-White devotion will get a worthwhile finisher and some enablers.

The Nyxborn will have a new mechanic that replaces bestow.

January 10, 2014 10:51 p.m.

cschiller says... #45

Arachnarchist: I thought the same thing. I based my predictions off of the art I had seen. I have seen the art, advertising Born of the Gods, for those five and none other, leading me to believe that. I did, however, share that same view of things.

MagnusMTG says... #46

Not as much a prediction as a hope, but I'd like to see dual-color tribes:

B/R Minotaurs, R/G Satyrs, B/G Gorgons, etc. - they each get a legendary creature, a relevant artifact, 'lords,' .. maybe even bring back Tribal as a supertype like in Lorwyn block.

January 11, 2014 11:50 a.m.

golffore297 says... #47

I bet that none of the minor gods will get weapons.

January 11, 2014 3:58 p.m.

Maybe a Maze of Ith type card called Nicolas' Cage.

January 11, 2014 5:11 p.m.

Didgeridooda says... #50

smackjack i predicted that in the other thread. glad to know someone else is hoping.
