New to Modern: Help with Izzet Burn

Modern forum

I'm new to Modern and thought a semi-budget Izzet Burn deck would be fun. The only problem is: I don't know what the best burn and draw spells in modern are. So what do you think the best draw spells and the best burn spells available? Are there more cards like Electrolyze that do both?

This is my deck: Ring of Fire

...but really Izzet is the wrong colors for Burn. Naya seems the most favorable at the moment.

Why is Naya better? I would think card draw would be imperative for a burn deck?

burn wants to do 3 or more damage per card so you dont need to draw cards. Ex. you start with a 7-card hand. Turn 1 you play Sacred Foundry and a Lava Spike, 18-17. Turn 2 you have 6 cards in hand. you play Mountain and Boros Charm 18-13. Turn 3 you have 5 cards in hand. you play Mountain and 3x Lightning Bolts! 18-4. add in a thoughtseize by your opponent or a couple of fetches and shocks and its gg. You dont need to draw cards because by the time you are out of cards, your opponent is dead. Naya has Boros Charm which is a great burn spell 4 damage for 1 card yes please, and Destructive Revelry for those pesky Leyline of Sanctity as well as Atarka's Command for Skullcracks 5-8. Blue offers Gitaxian Probe which you can play in naya for the phyrexian mana but its not good. any other draw spells you need to pay mana for you would rather be casting a lightning bolt.

This is my very un-knowledgeable opinion, but that is a very specific list of cards in your plan that requires you to have a white source, a Boros Charm, and 4x 3-damage for 1-mana spells in your opening hand or first 2 draws, and it leaves you at 1 card in hand and your opponent at 4 life. If they have any life gain, not playing black, or just didn't pull any of their shocks/Fetches then that doesn't look good

Naya Burn is tier 1 in modern. That means it must be doing something right. Here is a list of successful burn decks. Notice how most of them are naya. Izzet burn isn't really a thing in modern because there are very few quality draw spells. This is proven by the lack of heavy blue decks in modern. But if you insist on playing U/R then there is delver and even that now either adds black or green to last a longer game.

Naya Burn should be playing about 10 fetchlands. That's half of the mana base. This means that having the specific shock you need is very easy, and very consistent. You can afford to run green for 4 cards in the mainboard. You can afford to play 8 white cards mainboard. The fetchlands allow you to play the best non-land cards you can, which are in Naya colours.

Burn with blue is terrible without Treasure Cruise. Jeskai burn was a thing before the banning, and I even forced 4c burn for a while, and it worked pretty damn well. No card draw could replace Cruise, so we had to drop blue and look elsewhere. Skip forward a couple months to DTK, with Atarka's Command. This glorious card makes Naya burn tick. Dealaing 6 damage if you've got a Monastery Swiftspear is insane for 2 mana.

an overwhelming majority of modern decks hurt themselves and dont gain life

Gaining life is overrated and IMO one of the worst things players contribute resources to.

APPLE01DOJ Gaining life can help you stabilise, and if you make a deck which abuses lifegain (specifically Soul Sisters), you can do a hell lot of work against aggro.

Usually it's not the most important thing, though.
