Looking for fun for all commander

Commander Deck Help forum

Posted on Feb. 8, 2018, 8:49 p.m. by FancyLadies

All my favorite decks I play seem to be either too aggressive or competitive within my playgroup. So I thought of making a fun for all deck to change things up once in a while. Looking for any commanders who fit the profile. I don't care for the Hippo, but any other suggestions I will consider. Thanks everyone!

Edric, Spymaster of Trest, he is interesting. I have not done too much with group hug. I know Phelddagrif is good but you said you did not want him.

group hug is literally the only way to go to satisfy everyone. even still, people sometimes find hug annoying. If your group complains, it's their problem. they need to git gud and tune their decks to counter you.

Selvala, Explorer Returned or Queen Marchesa would be my pick. Selvala is more the group hug deck, but a deck that introduces the monarchy really changes how the game plays out. It's not group hug, but the games become more interactive and, as a result, more fun, and the way the question is worded, I didn't sound like you were specifically looking for hug commanders.

Here are all the usual suspects:

Nekusar, the Mindrazer is an interesting one. tons and tons of draw while also having the ability to win. More likely than not though you will lose since you draw the whole table into every answer they need.

I'm a big fan of Zedruu the Greathearted, though I haven't built him as of yet. You can build to give away nasty things like Steel Golem or be rather nice and give someone who has fallen behind a land so they can catch back up. This allows you flexibility to punish people that are way ahead of everyone else and help people that are just getting crap.

Wow these are all great options! SteelSentry, you're absolutely right, I am searching for a more interactive way for the table to have fun without really screwing myself over either, and i'm liking the monarchy idea!

Could also make Queen Marchesa into a curse deck for extra fun

Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis sounds like the most fun card to me if you wanna involve others in the hug :)

I am a fan of Zedruu the Greathearted. I run a enchantment deck with Scrambleverse cards and some Switcheroo cards that disrupt opponents and give me biding time to draw cards and gain life. By stealing creatures with cards like Hijack you can attack and with Zedruu the Greathearted give them to an opponent who might be willing to help kill the threat with the creature you took if you give it to them. A political theft deck (I imagine Zedruu like Robin Hood) that is fun and maybe even good?

Buy Durretti mono red planeswalker commander deck while its still available, its competitive out of the box which is ultra rare for pre constructed commander and cheap to rock out. A planeswalker CO isn't a creature either and seems to be tough to deal with if you get him out fast as everyone is stumbling and holding up terminate and other creature removal.

Zedruu the Greathearted is really good, since you can easily change between hug and punishment with the same list.I have also had great fun with Karona, False God.

Tbh Kami of the crescent moon is by far the one my friends and I had the most fun! Full of draw, you can pack some counterspells for a bit of control then win out by a combo, although it can combo out pretty quickly, it does make games interesting as you make everyone draw and advance. So its group huggish/combo, but I mean a typical kami game that I have, people draw 5,6 cards on their draw step. Its absolutly a blast!

I had a friend running Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis group hug/pillowfort that everyone in my playgroup enjoyed. We left him alone for most games and he ended up with a surprising amount of wins for multiplayer. Lot's of card draw, and they have good colors for grouphug and pillowfort.
