Couple of mainboard changes & big sideboard change —Nov. 14, 2018

Mainboard Changes:

In order to make the mana a little bit more consistent, and to make the deck a little bit more aggressive, I replaced the 4 Nyx-Fleece Ram for 4 Tide Drifter. Also, Shalai, Voice of Plenty & 1 Path to Exile were replaced with 1 Spellskite and 1 Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive

I also made an attempt to make the mana base a bit less painful, while still being as consistent as possible. The changes include switching some schocklands (Breeding Pool, etc.) for some other dual lands. If anyone is interested, I made these changes following articles by Frank Karsten:

How many mana of each colour you should run

How many lands you should run

Where is best land? Murmuring Bosk?

This is amazing! Have you tested it out much? This definitely looks like something that I would play in modern. +1!

@FullmetalWes & DeviousPenguin666,

Thank you both for your kind words! Unfortunately I havent played this deck too much, I can never really test any deck I made, I can just theory-craft and hope it becomes a decent deck. I really hope that I get the chance to test it soon though, I will let you guys know if/when that will happen.

@Totonka, Thanks! I looked at your deck and left a comment with some feedback, it looked great! :)

@lagotripha, I am 50/50 on the best land. On one side it fixes mana well, but it can enter the battlefield tapped which is a big no-no in this deck, its all about the tempo. So After some testing with the current deck, I never really had any issues with getting the right mana on the right time, so I am also not really sure if the best land is 100% necesarry.

Revedeka that's understandable. I think I've actually only ever played like two of the decks I've uploaded to TappedOut xD. Still, this looks like a deck that I am high-key thinking about building.

I love this deck. I run a very similar version without the blue. I run from behind the scenes instead but i may consider to splash blue for the cheaper creature instead.

+1 for certain, but I must ask - why no Wall of Denial?

@ Quantuman69, Thanks! I took a look at your deck, which for some reason I hadn't seen before even though I thought I looked at all doran decks in modern at this site. I thinks its great, I was thinking of a similar version of that deck before I decided to go more into blue.

@ cplvela0811, Well the main reason why I am not running Wall of Denial is because of the defender, the card would be amazing otherwise. Defender in this deck doesn't really work well, since Doran, the Siege Tower doesnt allow them to attack, he just switches power and toughness, that would mean Wall of Denial would only be able to attack with Assualt Formation on the battlefield, and I don't want to be dependent on 3 or 4 cards to make that combo work. That the reason why I am not running any creatures with defender in this deck, I have thought about it though, but it required me to run something like Rolling Stones which would mean I had to run like 12 cards in order to make this deck function, which is too much. However, in M19, Arcades, the Strategist was spoiled and although I dont think that card fits in this deck (if your interested why, read my latest update) you can definitely make a deck with that card and Wall of Denial and other insane defender creatures.

I see. I had initially thought of the card - without being mindful of Defender. Thank you for the clarification. Assault Formation would clearly be a clunky addition to the 75.

cplvela0811, assault formation is apart of the deck but there are only three of them in the deck. So if you were to run a card that has defender, then you would have to exclusively rely on drawing assault formation. Defender just doesnt mesh well with Doran decks. On the other hand the new Bant elder dragon Arcades the strategist would probably really like to use wall of denial

Nice deck. And very well done Primer. +1
I really like Spellskite in this for ease of casting and protecting Doran and/or Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive. Plus with 4 toughness it fits nicely in the cheap cost high toughness theme. Spellskite is still a powerhouse.

I may "borrow" some of your formatting methods for my Jund primer.

@ Chasmolinker, Thanks! Spellskite hasn't really seen that much modern play after the Splinter Twin ban a pretty long time ago, but it still has a lot of uses, like protecting the important cards in this deck as you said.

Feel free to "borrow" anything from my primers! I only get my backgrounds like this because I just went and viewed some page sources on other primes and tried to improve from there. If you are looking for some inspiration, be sure to check out my UW Spirit primer, I personally consider it to be my best primer in terms of formatting and visual appeal.
