The idea is a large amount of mono red land destruction. The problem was finding a viable shell to put a ton of 3 cmc land destruction spells in. slivers ended up working out decently and the deck is pretty cheap. The simian spirit guides are there to start hitting lands on T2 if you can and later they are can be used as 2/2 beaters. Reforge the soul is there to reset your hand as soon as its empty. Can be done for miracle cost, but its CMC isnt that bad either so it's not terrible to save it for later.
