Fairly simple. Use lifegain both as defensive buffer and to power up a small army of creatures rapidly.

Soul Warden and Soul's Attendant use lifegain to boost Serra Ascendants and Ajani's Pridemates to the point that they can just destroy anything.

Late game the Archangel of Thune + Heliod, Sun-Crowned boosts everything to levels best be described as obscene.
