Grand Illusions

Modern Aggro Mono-Blue

Mono blue illusions with the grand summoning deal. One of the first decks I ever really fell in love with in Magic. Been working on this deck a lot. If you have any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, a +1 is always nice! :D Thanks

Why not just make this a modern deck by changing the cantrips to Sleight of Hand and Serum Visions ?

Reason why there are no Force of Wills in this deck is because it is an $80 card lol and I cannot afford that.

Also I think that if you're going to make it an illusion deck, then make it more illusion based. I think the steel hellkite is unnecessary, 4 trinket mage is a bit too many (maybe 2), and I think you should add in a couple Phantom Warrior s or Phantasmal Dragon s to make the deck a bit more aggro and illusion based. You may also want to consider adding in a few counters like Mana Leak or Spell Pierce .

Its a Grand Illusion deck, not 100% illusion. I didn't make it to be an aggro deck, and it works extremely well as it is. I haven't been working on this deck much here lately at all but I do believe putting in a few Mana Leak would be a good idea. I used to run it but I took it out and I don't remember why I did lol but thanks for the advice man! I appreciate it.

Just a heads up: thinning your deck with fetchlands doesn't work, statistically. xP

Good deck. I aslo tried to make a Illusion deck and this is a very good template. Whats about Krovikan Mist or Phantasmal Dragon ?

Let me Reanimate this deck.

Mizzium Skin can also protect your illusions from spells and counter one that's on the pile. It could also provide a mini combat trick to save a creature, but +0/+1 is still lame.

Veiling Oddity can setup a kill.

Illusory Angel works well with low cost stuff like suspensions or Phantasmal Bear.

AEtherplasm can bring stuff to your board and/or keep you safe while attacking with all your flying board.

Sneaky Homunculus and AEther Figment work very well too, especially AEther Figment.

Maybe : Riftwing Cloudskate for some little but sometimes needed control.

And if you want to play it casually there are cards like Somnophore and Veiled Sentry that put some pseudo-control pressure easily while keeping an aggro spirit.

Also with my bad pun, I just realized some could do great things with some reanimation on Lord of the Unreal or Phantasmal Image

Using grand architect to tap an illusion sacrifices it just so you know

so I had to look this up since it wasn't clear on gatherer, Grand Architect does not cause any illusions you tap to be sacrificed. I didn't think so, but since I've run a similar deck in the past, I has to be sure.

  1. list text hereCan confirm architect doesn't kill illusions. Been playing with these guys since they released. I have a similar deck using both illusions and making use of architect artifact synergy. Been trying to fit a playset of metallic mimic in here but I think it's either those or 4 illusory angels
