Di Nos Protegat (Heroic)

Standard Soldiers WU (Azorius)

Guzheng

Sideboard

Creature (1)

Enchantment (2)

Working with the fantastic Heroic mechanic introduced in Theros, this deck focuses on targeting spells and good, small targets that grow fast on the battlefield. Included a healthy amount of scry to help keep the top deck functional.

Gods Willing helps as both a flexible protection from removal for creatures, as well as a dual function heroic trigger in the case of Favored Hoplite ( potential to provide pro-black/removal and the heroic trigger of pro-red/burn in a one drop with scry ).

Aqueous Form is unquestionably a strong one drop, both as a one-time heroic trigger, as well as an insanely functional evasion/top-deck manipulation effect/trigger.

Triton Tactics is an excellent defensive trick, helping you retain your blockers while keeping their forces delayed while you counter-attack.

Hidden Strings gives you the benefit of multiple targeting with re-usability, letting you decide whether you want more open lands, more blockers, or selective deadlock for your opponents battlefield.

Phalanx Leader doesn't really need much justification. A heroic trigger that distributes strength to all your creatures is a really hard worker, especially at the casting cost.

Favored Hoplite is probably the best one drop in the deck ( perhaps my favorite in recent years ), and it fills all the requirements for a strong creature early game, with built-in protection to keep it growing into late game. The Gods truly hold him in high regards!

Earlier in the game ( relative to her casting cost ), Elspeth, Sun's Champion -3 shouldn't hit too many of your creatures, and late game her ultimate grants your army the added punch they need to seal your opponents fate.

Ajani, Caller of the Pride contributes to your buffs with his +1, which is solid on it's own. His -3 lets you exploit Medomai the Ageless , or it tempers the steel of your board state when making that final push.

Medomai the Ageless isn't strictly a strong card without any support, but a deck is allowed certain instances of fun. He melds with the flavor of an army bolstered by the divine, and late game he can seal the deal, with the potential for double the fun with a touch of doublestrike. Let your forces relish their victory with extra maneuvers!

Battlewise Hoplite is another fantastically functional soldier, providing you with top-deck intelligence as well as a buff, all packaged in a bigger body.

The deck's strength lies in the one CMC range, with everything else building upon it to keep it relatively fast and responsive.

Fill the role of consul and deliver defeat to your enemy with divine protection!
