Maybe Board Discussion —June 22, 2018

Acidic Slime - This is a neat card to have overall. Can destroy lands, artifacts and enchantments. The problem is that its 5 mana as well as not flash. In order to sneak this in i would need to get Aether Vial up to 5 counters (t6) or hard cast it which can be difficult when playing against control. Sticking it on the field would yield great results, but the slowness and the fact it is unreliable to get to 5 mana prevents me having it main board.

Fiend Hunter - Just like Spell Queller we can do the permanent exile trick. But the major issue here is that it only targets creatures. Its 1/3 body makes it easy to destroy in modern. The card that it would replace would be Reflector Mage which is a great card in that it can disrupt opponents casting plan even if they destroy my creature. I can just keep bouncing reflector mage and they cant cast a card for 2 turns (their turn then my turn) etc.

Stonehorn Dignitary - i saw this and it really looks interesting. This one has potential to be added into the main deck. Making opponents lose combat steps would help in the aggro match ups. I could probably fit this in the Ghostly Prison spot in the side board. However it is a creature which makes it easier to remove, it is 4 mana which is 1 more than what we would like (all our current 4 cc creatures are flash). I need to experiment with this.

Thraben Inspector - This card was in the original build of the deck. ok blocking body with card draw potential when bounced. I still debate if it should not be in the deck still. I can probably take out the coiling oracles and add 2 copies of this in its place and another Wall of Omens but right now the biggest issue is the mana. I prefer reliable card draw and land tutoring over the slow pay 2 and draw from this card.

Thragtusk - Suffers the same downside as Acidic Slime. high mana cost. But awesome to cast to gain life and when leaves field gives a 3/3 beast. like having Lone Missionary and bladesplicer in one as well as being a decent attacking body itself.

Meddling Mage - This is one card i definitely am debating to add to side board. can help shut down matchups if i recognize key pieces in their plan. The question is where it goes?

Cryptic Command - There is a known combo where you cast this then bounce Eternal Witness and recast to get Cryptic Command again. It is possible to get into an infinite loop where opponents cant attack or cast cards. However, its extremely mana heavy and relies of your Eternal Witness not dieing,or any spells countering this combo. It is definitely a late game combo and i already think we have many of those combos in this deck.

Radiant Fountain - Could probably stick this in one of the slots for colorless mana. Ok target for Flickerwisp to hit to gain back life.
