Mono-blue control is a pipe dream in modern. Recently, Red has received the strong and flexible Chandra, Torch of Defiance. Red is also the best colour for the best control cards in modern, able to play any and all of Blood Moon, Chalice of the Void, and Ensnaring Bridge on turn one. Red also has Lightning Bolt, the best spell in modern.

Mono Red is now the king of mono control!

This deck runs 0 creatures in the main (except Simian Spirit Guide which hardly counts), and can blank a vast majority of an opponent's deck. Currently the sideboard plan has the option to switch into flying beaters, which replace Bridge if and when that is desirable.
