Stormtide+Chasm Skulker Combo?

So Stormtide Leviathan and Chasm Skulker ... Notice that the squid tokens produced by Chasm Skulker have islandwalk. Now this sort of seems like it lends itself to a game ending combo. At first I thought Chord of Calling would be the best option for Stormtide, but that would still require Skulker to somehow die after you've drawn a lot of cards to get a bunch of squidies, plus it would be really mana intensive. Any ideas on this? I'm a big Stormtide fan so I'd love for him to actually be playable. I guess standard is probably out of the question unless you stumble upon Stormtide with Jalira, Master Polymorphist . Kind of like if Altar of Bone said into play instead of into hand. Just feel like I'm missing something. Could possibly aim to reanimate Stormtide after selfmilling and drawing with something like Coerced Confession then just sac Chasm with something.

Yeah I think looting/milling/drawing into reanimating would be the best way to make this interaction work. Unfortunately there are better targets than Stormtide Leviathan for any competitive environment. You could make something like this work in a casual setting but it isn't going to be the next big modern archetype or anything.

right I understand just sort of a neat win con idea I guess. maybe more of an EDH trick in a broader deck. It just felt like it was something that could be curved into really well with the Chasm Skulker s only costing 3 and say some card draw/mill on turn 4 then reanimate Stormtide Leviathan /sac Skulker for turn 5.

For synergy with Chasm Skulker , I like a lot of Simic stuff. Zameck Guildmage , Prime Speaker Zegana , and even Give / Take all work well with the draw trigger, and Master Biomancer is pretty bonkers with the tokens.

And of course, Rapid Hybridization is your best friend for removal.

Chasm Skulker is going to be good in 2 shells. Blue Black control, and Blue Green simic monsters.
With blue black control you have enough removal spells to make the game last longer. Giving you time to build up Chasm to have more counters on him. You also have good card drawing engines like Divination and Military intelligence which fuel him faster.
The other is Simic shell with big green monster to help build a big board presence and fuel Chasm skulker faster. A turn 2 skulker with elvish mystic is pretty fast. cards like bioshift, life's legacy, zamorik guildmage, Kalonia Hydra all provide counter abuse.

I like the idea of using 2x Generator Servant to get Stormtide Leviathan out on T4...
T4, 8/8 Unblockable, while locking out your opponent from attacking AND giving it Haste...? - Yes, please!

But that's only with a god hand where everything works out and perfect draws. You're looking at needing in your first 3 draws plus opening hand a mountain, 3 islands, two Generator Servant 's, and a Stormtide Leviathan , all in only 10-11 cards. No other combination works out. Where you're really hurt is the triple U in the bad boy's casting cost. I agree that it sounds fun as heck, and may even try it for the fun of it, but getting the T4 is hard. You'll probably have better luck with a T5, T6 goal where you'll get more draws and can play draw spells.

7 cards total needed, and 4 are land.
With the mana fixing available, especially before rotation, almost all your land could produce the Blue needed. Evolving Wilds (T1 only), Temple (T1 only), Painland, Shockland, Mana Confluence .
So you're really looking at any 4 land in the first 4 turns. (You should be aiming for that anyway). Then 3 cards... 2x Generator Servant and 1x Stormtide Leviathan .
I'm not saying it should be relied on in a deck, but it should be easy to build a workable deck that can do this.

I just, I want a mono blue EDH deck with Jalira, Master Polymorphist as the commander and Chasm Skulker and Stormtide Leviathan as the only creatures and all you do is draw and protect, then play your commander to sac the skulker into the leviathan to win. lol please someone make this happen x3

You can play with other creatures as well... just use mono-Blue Legendary creatures, so you can bypass them when using Jalira, Master Polymorphist .
I was thinking of something similar, using Blightsteel Colossus , Darksteel Colossus , It That Betrays , and maybe a few other strong creatures to be 'cheated' out.

I feel like Rescue from the Underworld is the best way to bring out Stormtide Leviathan . This method combines removing Chasm Skulker while also bringing out Stormtide Leviathan , with the added bonus of retaining the Chasm Skulker . I doubt this combo would be consistent with how removal heavy the meta is.

Luckily, Rescue from the Underworld is the best reanimator spell against removal. However, you probably should be playing ETB-trigger creatures to make that deck work.

I love Chasm Skulker ! And I love to see people brewing with him! I think Life's Legacy could help you. Refill your hand, boost a second Skulker if you have it, and dig for the Stormtide Leviathan . I think a U/G Skulker deck would be the best option, particularly while we still have the Simic guild to draw on.
