Hi all
I stopped playing a while ago(born of the gods) but have recently picked up a guilds of ravnica booster box along with some deckbuilders toolkits etc.
I've tried a few decks, but my pool is pretty limited.
Could anyone update me on the key creatures/spells for Rakdos please???I don't mind spending a bit to get a decent deck for FNM. But ideally just looking for key cards that i can work around myself. Thanks

Yea I read that allegiance was going to have rakdos. For now I have a semi competitive boros and a red burn. There ok but not 1st place FNM material lol
If you know of any decks that have used only the Guilds Of Ravnica set cards that would be good too

If you're looking strictly at GRN cards, your best bet is probably going to be Mentor (aggro) decks. That or Surveil. Undergrowth is decent but not strong enough by itself in comparison I think. doesn't have enough token generators to work with in house (though you could maybe splash a few Convoke cards into an aggro deck and make it Naya .
And the Jump-Start is cool, but nothing that really sustains itself. You could probably make a halfway decent counter-burn deck though. There are a handful of creatures that get value off off of instant and sorceries in graveyard. Not to mention Goblin Electromancer is in this standard. It actually may not be as bad as an idea as I thought as I'm writing this. And if you're willing to go grab some Guttersnipe from M19, you got a fun deck there. Splash in a few Ral, Izzet Viceroy and it feels like a real deck.

I see. Well my boros deck is probably the best I can make atm. I could try the izzet. I have a few m14 Guttersnipe I could use. I can use older prints right??

Boros aggro is your best shot. Boros Challenger, Swiftblade Vindicator, Tajic, Blade of the Legion and Aurelia, Exemplar of Justice are all top notch threats.
Deafening Clarion, Integrity / Intervention and Response / Resurgence are all top-notch non-creature spells.
Additonally, Boros can roll into aggro once Rakdos arrives in a few months.
You can use any print as long as at least one is legal in Standard. Old Guttersnipes are just as good as new ones.

Yes you can use older reprints. As long as that card itself has been reprinted into Standard, you can use nearly any printing of it.
I can use an Alpha Shivan Dragon in place of the M19 Shivan Dragon. They're still the same card.

Also Mardu aggro would be spicy. Haven't seen a decent Mardu deck since Khans of Tarkir when the color combo got its name.

Last standard had Mardu vehicles aggro, featuring both Scrapheap Scrounger and Veteran Motorist :)
Bushmonkey, perhaps it will be best to post which cards you have that you want to build around and we can work from there.

I'd post up your rare and mythics . But two decks that have potential imo are sultai using surveil and undergrowth and grixis using surveil and jump start either color combo offers a ton of great removal options. But you can never go wrong with r/x aggro

Honestly, I think you can build a decent Izzet deck using just the cards from GRN available right now. You can be competitive with the opportunity to really solidify or splash in that third color as you familiarize yourself with the new set and if you stick around for the upcoming future sets. It would definitely be helpful for everyone to see what you have available, or what your favorite cards in this set, that you may want to build around, are.

I agree that is not really strong enough to be competitive.
We won't REALLY know what staples to include until the Pro Tour at the start of November.

Looks like I'll be building a boros deck for FNM.
So far I've opened 2x Aurelia, Exemplar of Justice , Tajic, Blade of the Legion , Legion Warboss , Risk Factor and lots of boros guild cards. Oh and I pulled a boros shockland
I Did get a Runaway Steam-Kin. Worth putting in too??

This does sound like the start a very nice boros deck that will need just a few uncommons/cheap rares to be finished off.
Given that all the other cards you mentioned are red, Steam-kin does sound OK.

Great I'll throw it in.
My only other issue now is that I don't have a full player of anything. I have 3x Boros Challenger but only a max of 2 of everything else worth putting in. Also can't decide on which creature to use between Sunhome Stalwart or Fresh-Faced Recruit. One has constant 1st strike but the other has the mana colour flexibility. Opinions??

I do not think mana color flexibility is that much more important than 1 more toughness, constant first strike and mentor ability.

Never thought of that lol.
I'll be posting it online soon. Just ordered some cards so going to wait for them to arrive. Suppose it's better this way until I've played for a whole rotation to get a decent collection of cards to work with in future

It would have probably been better to make the deck on TappedOut, get some feedback and streamline the deck before buying it, but that works too.

Also, you mentioned what you opened to work with a Boros, but what did you open that would work in other guilds? I only ask because you may be able to trade some of the guilds you're not using for the things you want/need for the Boros deck. I always try and check with the people I play with at my local shop on trades before I spend money on specific singles unless they are harder to get cards. Your fellow players may be in the same boat as yourself, just looking for those last couple Thief of Sanity and willing to move some Boros to get it done

I did think about trading, but atm ive just moved to a new area and haven't even met anyone at my local FNM yet. I do have some other mythics and rares but my missis wants to start playing so I'm letting her experiment with them atm. But in the future when she's settled of a playstyle/colour I will definitely be trading.

Ok here's what I have. The Arclight Phoenix is there temporarily as im not sure what it needs. Wont be able to playtest it until this friday night. Any tips would be great

Hey friend! Welcome back. If you're looking to build a Rakdos () deck, it's best if you wait until January, when Ravnica: Allegiance comes out. That's the set that will focus on the other 5 guilds that weren't in GRN, Rakdos included.
If I were you, I'd find the power cards in your pool, and build from there. Right now, the format is shaken up from a huge and recent rotation, so I wouldn't commit to anything just yet -- just explore your card pool, figure out what's powerful, and save up for when the strong midrange/control decks emerge (: best of luck, and hmu if I can help with a specific decklist or whatever.
