How to deal with chalice of the void?
Modern Deck Help forum

Hello, first of all, I would like to say that currently I play an auras deck in modern, but I also play EDH and legacy burn, also intend to play Living end one day.
I always have trouble playing against pesky counterspells, but mainly against Chalice of the Void.
Can someone teach me strategies to get rid of the Chalice?
I do, but usually the counterspell bullshit from the stupid chalice will counter cards I own like Revoke Existence and NaturalizeThat's the why I want some strategy or a how to play against, I'm not smart enough to come up with a strategy on my on.

- Revoke Existence
- Shattering Blow
- Elvish Scrapper
- Fragmentize
- Disenchant
- Dissenter's Deliverance
- Naturalize
- Seal of Primordium
I just cherry-picked the decent 1 or 2 mana ones.
Hope it helps.

Best strategy I would say is to just include spells of different CMC. Ideally they don't hit you with two chalices that cover both the 1cmc and 2cmc slots. Put enough of them in from your side at different costs and you'll get there eventually.
The sad truth of it is that you sort of have to accept that Chalice of the Void can be a game breaker for you. Just like how some decks can do nothing against a resolved Blood Moon. You just have to hope for the best. Heart of the cards and all that.

Krosan Grip will do the job as chalice usually aims at shutting everything with cmc 0, 1 and 2 off

I'd recommend Krosan Grip to go higher than they will normally chalice for and Seal of Primordium because it can be pre-cast and just stop them from playing out the chalice at all.

3CMC is a big investment for Boggles, but it's a fair point altogether. Only reason I avoided it was for that logic.

Splash for Abrupt Decay :P
But yeah, it's called a free win deck for a reason!
Also, don't forget that Chalice is a triggered ability, it's totally legal to cast your spell anyway, and if they don't remember the ability your spell will resolve. I play burn and tokens and it happens with fair frequency.
I'd think that 2 CMC artifact removal would be fine in the sideboard. If they find two Chalices and set them at 1 and 2, that's just too bad. But if they only find one, against Bogles, I'd guess they want to set it at 1.

That's actually not a bad idea if it's that big of an issue. Abrupt Decay would be a great shutdown for Chalice.
Just splash a black shockland like Godless Shrine or Overgrown Tomb.

If you want a more variable cost, By Force is sweet. Otherwise, Smash to Smithereens and Ancient Grudge are solid.
I know all these options are all red, but they are options.

As a Chalice of the Void player, I can concur that Abrupt Decay is the last thing I want to see (Modern or Legacy)..

Choose an artifact removal spell that doesn't share its CMC with the majority of your deck.

If your deck relies too heavily on a particular CMC, you could try finding other cards that serve the same purpose, for the sideboard (or potentially even main if its a real frequent occurrence). I know this is a round-a-bouts sort of way to deal with chalice, but hey it could be relevant.

Artifact removal seems like the fairest option. If it's typically ruining games for you the put between 3 and 5 artifact removal cards in your sideboard.
You play I'm assuming if you're playing Boggles. And . You should have countless options for removing artifacts.
