Just bought an ultra-pro playmat with my favorite art in the entire game I swear. It's Nicol Bolas from the card Wit's End . What's your favorite playmate art? Custom printed art?

I know someone with a Gift of Orzhova playmat. It's pretty cool, only wish it was foil. (Would that even work?)

I have a Godless Shrine mat right now, but I'm thinking of custom-ordering one with Angel of Flight Alabaster or Make a Wish . Thoughts on which?

I have no playmat... When I started playing magic again a year ago I made a personal pact not to buy one and that to get one I'd have to top 8 in a IQ or another tournament. Figured I could spend the $20 on more cards to win one. Still don't have one... lol. I use it as motivation.

I use a Steam Vents play mat. Though, I would love a custom Kessig Wolf Run mat.

I have a Sacred Foundry playmat, it has some wear on it but oohh well. My next playmat will be Top 8 at a PTQ or something.

I recently splurged and bought myself a Erebos, God of the Dead playmat. I really want a custom playmat though, something doctor who or harry potter related knowing myself :P

smash10101 That sounds pretty awesome to be honest, Gift of Orzhova is one of my favorite arts and would actually go along with the deck i'm currently playing lol.

I use

as my playmat.

John Avon can pretty much draw anything and I will like it.

Some of these are really awesome. I really like the Angel of Flight Alabaster as well. Does anyone know the best way to fix a curled edge? I want my mat to be flat.

I just ordered a custom one. I was looking for one of Evan Erwin's (Mr. Orangeguy on YouTube) "Red Zone" playmats, but looks like they are sold out everywhere.

I never had any real interest in a playmat, especially one with card art or custom art on it. The Red Zone one was really cool because it helps keep things organized.

While looking around online, though, I found this: .

I know, right?!

I don't even care about using it as a playmat. The art is hilarious!

I feel like Jace has an advantage.

Also, I like that Mirari is in the cabinet.

MagnusMTG: I am so buying that one right now. I have been looking for an awesome playmat and had yet to find one that I really liked. Thank you sir/madam.

i have a Gleam of Battle mat, looks cool, but i mostly use simic, so it makes for an interesting effect.

Jp3ngu1nb0y definitely get Make a Wish . I love the art on that so much!

I'd like Yeong-Hao Han's RTR plains or island. The attention to detail in those is amazing. Any land by him or John Avon would look nice on a playmat.

nobu_the_bard says... #17

I have Hallowed Fountain RTR playmat. I like the strong blue color and strong straight lines. It's also somewhat muted and does not demand attention. Using a playmat with a face on it seems... inconsiderate, somehow, to me. I prefer the landscapes.

I have 3, 1 is the Dragonshift from dgm, another is Celestial Archon from attending a gp and a custom one, a white playmat with art from a few people, steve argle, daarken, rob alexander, chris rush, rk post. I'm going to frame this last one one day and don't play on it though.

@Jp3ngu1nb0y: The Mirari, the picture of Dogs Playing Poker on the wall, the picture of Nicol Bolas on the other wall with darts stuck in it . . . It's just too good!

@smash10101: I found it on ebay - seller = eaterofwisdom (GetSomeGame.com)

Well i really want to see a Mogis, God of Slaughter playmat it would look dope

January 16, 2014 1:21 p.m.

They have a Mogis one. I'm probably going to break down and get the Xenagod one, it looks too good.

January 16, 2014 1:23 p.m.

I've got a Fires of Undeath playmat, but don't use it very often. I simply keep forgetting to take it with me. Funny thing is, everybody who sees it makes the same pun about the artwork being "hot"...

January 16, 2014 1:30 p.m.

Korombos says... #23

I like the Xenagod one, too. I might get it at the prerelease to replace my Spellground.

xXCAETUSXx says... #24

How do you flatten a curled playmat??

January 16, 2014 8:28 p.m.

guessling says... #25

I did this one by hand because I couldn't find a digital version that was anything like it at all.

I did the best I could and like staring at it, at least, ... while I wait for people to finish turns ...

I always get this song in mind when I look at it and get images of people in the stands and things. I know that I am weird ...

@r3v13w: That's pretty cool! I like the columns of numbers up the side.

Nice work.

January 16, 2014 10:13 p.m.

guessling says... #27

Thanks! I feel awkward about it because it seems pretty different than the usual printed card art play-mat. I do like card-art, actually (but it's not generic enough for me and I wanted something that I could use with any deck), and I can appreciate the art of the playmat that Korombos has (probably by a better artist - but they can't see what's in my head that I'm looking for). Very awesome artwork, though!

January 16, 2014 10:26 p.m.

Korombos says... #28

Yeah, I wish the spellgrounds were more plentiful. Mine is from the 90's. Apparently (mint) they're worth $200 or so. I've only actually been playing with it for two years or so and I should probably stow it before I wreck it. I just haven't seen anything I like better. Xenagod will do though. I love satyrs.

Any advice for getting the stink out of the giant mousepads? (My spellground is actually fabric, another reason I like it so much.)

January 16, 2014 10:31 p.m.

@ review

Whenever I see that kind of shape-art, I can't help but wonder if it has a hidden meaning. Is there something those arcs and circles represent?

And as MagnusMTG said too, those numbers are really cool. It's the first time I've seen that now. Or I just never noticed before...

By the way, you're only weird if you untap yourself each time you play a spell...

@ Korombos

If it's fabric, it should survive at least a handwash in lukewarm water, maybe with some soap (not for oil-based colors and the like). Definitely nothing with aggressive chemicals like shower gel or washing powder, you never know how much those non-clothing fabrics really can take. And when you find it out, it's too late XD

January 17, 2014 3:04 a.m.

Argh, damn. That's what comes from getting used to see so much leetspeak that I read it without noticing... That was meant to read @ r3v13w...

i would like to get City of Ass . Anyone know where i could get this made?

January 17, 2014 3:52 a.m.

MagnusMTG says... #32

You can search Ebay for "custom playmats," there are a couple places that do it.There might be copyright issues, however, if you want to copy licensed art.

January 17, 2014 2:10 p.m.

guessling says... #33

@ Triforce-Finder Sorry it took so long to reply! I feel like there should be a "deeper meaning or symbolism" now that you bring it up, but really it is nothing more than my attempt to capture the look and feel from recurring dreams that I have all the time. I can think of "short stories" that answer your question but nothing more, really.

January 18, 2014 1:47 p.m.

No problem, r3v13w. It's okay to take your time replying, this is a forum and not a chatroom. That "look and feel" must be what I sensed there, then. I'm not going to ask anybody about their dreams, my own are enough to handle...

Where is the best place to buy a mat from? What is a good price? I think it would be nice to have one so my cards don't have to sit on those crummy tables at my LGS.

I currently play with an Avacyn, Angel of Hope playmat. I like it, but I mostly play green so might another more green-centric one soon.

MagnusMTG says... #40

@PlainsAngels: Shop around. Check online - eBay, Amazon, game shop websites. From what I've seen, Playmats range from 10-30$. The custom one I just got was 25$ and my LGS sells solid color ones for 10$. 16-18$ seems the most average for non-custom art.

January 19, 2014 4:30 p.m.

tcomstedt says... #41

Personally, I would LOVE and pay for a custom playmat with the Havoc Festival art. It's just so ridiculous and detailed.

May 22, 2014 4:17 p.m.

KrosanTusker says... #42

tcomstedt Yeah, the detail's cool. The little fire-breathing baby demon things are cute, too.

Wow, that sentence sounds weird out of context.
