How is this card $15?

Unless I'm missing something, I don't understand how Blinkmoth Nexus deserves to be $15. It's a land that turns into a 1/1 with flying..woopidy doo. Other Blinkmoth Nexus s can boost each other, but that's not even that good! The only viable way I can see using this is with Inkmoth Nexus . Am I missing something here? Tell me why this card is so expensive!
It is a mana producer and an affinity enabler all at once. It's like having a Mox Opal that can attack.

It's appeal really only lies in affinity, and even then mostly modern affinity - legacy affinity has kind of lost its foothold.
Modern affinity wants to go all-in on damage, and kill the opponent as quickly as possible. It is a deck that produces a lot of mana outside of its lands. The only reason this land is $15 is because that one particular deck is pretty damn good in modern, is necessarily a 3-4 of, I believe, and furthers the game plan while still producing mana.
Not that I'm saying much that others aren't already.

I didn't see it at first until I started thinking about Mishra's Factory and the until end of turn ability let's it survive sorcery based removal.

Hmm, interesting. So all for affinity, I was secretly hoping that it had some mystical power that let it deal 20 damage in one turn :P.

You'd still think Inkmoth would be the more expensive card with that logic since you'd only need to do ten, not twenty, damage with it to kill. So, for legacy, assuming some ideal hands and draws, turn one Inkmoth Nexus , Mox Opal , Memnite , Ornithopter , tap two for Cranial Plating , Frogmite , pass. Turn two, draw an Ornithopter, drop a land, play ornithopter, turn inkmoth and equip cranial plating, swing eight poison leaving four blockers. Turn three, swing for kill no matter what you draw. Sure, bit of a temple draw there, but you get my point, really really fast. You could also instead play Master of Etherium turn two, swing for kill turn three with just straight up ten poison in the air. Much more impressive than Blinkmoth in my opinion.

I always disliked infect in legacy affinity, though some players do love it. I enjoy using Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas to make up damage that Cranial Plating can't. Wouldn't recommend that anyone play the deck, though. There are better budget options.
@ buffy I guess you could say that Blinkmoth Nexus is synergistic with Shrapnel Blast , though I'm pretty sure that a lot of people have switched over to Galvanic Blast ...

The thing about Inkmoth Nexus is that it mixes your damage. You don't want to be doing normal damage with all of your creatures, then have to alpha strike for infect.

I got a buddy that plays Inkmoth Nexus in a Varolz, the Scar-Striped EDH deck...watched him transform the Nexus then scavenge Death's Shadow and Phyrexian Dreadnought to it and swung in for a 1-shot infect kill

I'm still much more impressed by inkmoth, but the mixed damage is exactly why I personally am only putting one in the deck, as an emergency out or for that moment when I have the perfect hand. As far as not recommending the deck, it's the only budget legacy deck that suits me and how I like to play, and yes, I also prefer making up with Tezz what Cranial Plating lacks.
Anyways, still not getting Blinkmoth since in my eyes it's not exactly an improvement over Inkmoth. Then again, I don't understand why Boros Reckoner is still over ten dollars when his twin, Spitemare , is less than a dollar. Some things in magic I will never understand.

Because it's awesome! LOL
Nah it's because it's pretty much been an Affinity staple since it launched back in the original Mirrodin Block

@Sweet-Nightmare: Blinkmoth Nexus is not strictly superior, but it is better for a deck that wants to keep all of its damage focused in the same direction.
As for Boros Reckoner vs. Spitemare , Boros Reckoner is in Standard. Even disregarding that, it has a lower CMC and can gain first strike.

And the fact that Reckoner is a Minotaur Wizard just means win-more

Blinkmoth Nexus helps you play around Counterspell s and sorcery-speed removal. Not to mention, it's only been printed once before modern masters and at rare.

I wondered the same thing when people were suggesting that I put Blinkmoth Nexus in my artifact deck: Micro Machines (Super Aggro). I settled for Inkmoth Nexus , it's cheaper and has infect.

Blinkmoth Nexus with the artifact guy the taps to put a +1/+1 counter on artifact creatures you control
Same with Inkmoth Nexus
