Hexproof or Indestructability. Which is better?

I'm trying to build a deck around either Platinum Emperion or even Platinum Angel, both cards are creatures that would make it difficult for me to lose a game, however I'm not for sure which equipment I should add into the deck to help fortify them against attack. I'm thinking either Darksteel Plate or Whispersilk cloak. Both cards have a cost of (3) and an equip of (2) but offer different abilities, so I'm wondering which would be better, if something is indestructible or if it is hexproof.

It depends on what you're trying to defend against. Anything that targets won't be able to target a creature with Hexproof, but that doesn't offer any defense against effects that don't target (Day of Judgment , Mutilate , etc.). Being indestructible keeps something from being destroyed by lethal damage or "destroy" effects, but doesn't defend against effects that don't deal damage or destroy things (Tragic Slip , Celestial Flare , etc.).

Use a mix of both, along with some Protection effects (stops Damage, Enchanting/Equipping, Blocking, and Targeting), to get the best coverage.

Why not both? Hexproof indestructible Platinum Angel means extremely few things can get rid of it. To add insult to injury throw some stuff in to give yourself hexproof and now there is only mass exile effects that'll work, or mass -X/-X spells.

Yeah, it all depends. Indestructibility will keep you save from Supreme Verdict , but hexproof will not. Each is valuable in their own right, and as such you could load the deck with both and try giving it both indestructibility and hexproof. Put it this way, none of it will save you from Terminus or Black Sun's Zenith .

In commander, the cards you name are common for protecting Generals, and decks that value one can see value in all of them.

think about how often you see board sweepers vs single removal like Murder , Lightning Bolt , Path to Exile etc all of which are negated by hexproof but not so with indestructible. And then of course it depends on what kind of board sweeping you're playing, burn like Pyroclasm or wrath like Day of Judgement?!?!?!! (why isn't this linking to the card?!) each getting around hexproof but with obvious drawbacks for your own board state so again, how often do you see them played?

But even then you have hexproof creatures like Thrun, the Last Troll & Troll Ascetic who have regenerate so would survive most board sweepers, or go a step further with Asceticism applying the same factor to any of your creatures, you'd need something like Wrath of God to deal with them.

So going with the odds i'd say hexproof...but never shroud - meh

Your Day of Judgment link isn't working because you didn't spell it right. ;)
