I am going to start building my second mono black deck around vito, thorn of the dark rose
My previous one was a K'rrik deck and despite I filled it with really expensive and powerful cards and all the best aristrocrats and ways to...well it failed so this time I am gonna try to get advice from others so I can get mono black done right this time.
The card I am looking at is Malefic Scythe. I want to pair it with Ashnod's Altar but I can't think of any card to pair with it to make it go infinite. I need a creature or spell that makes it so that when I sac the creature holding the scythe I can spawn another creature forever. Is there a way to make this scythe go infinite?
I think it would be a really cool way and this scythe looks like it would go flavorfully REALLY well in this deck with this being a vampire cleric.

You could also do Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and a persist creature. Persist creature comes back via persist and undying alternatively. Has the benefit of also being infinite mana.

Gidgetimer sadly, mine also makes infinite mana, do the loop but don't attach half the time so you generate mana and counters each time.
Both combos end the same!

Nope, do it without the equip for infinite mana, do it again with the equip for infinite death triggers.
Your's can also be done this way!

It is basically any of the mono-black Ashnod's Altar infinite mana loops plus the scythe. Unfortunately of half the Ashnod's Altar loops I know are not mono black. I guess that technically you could also do the Mikaeus, the Unhallowed loops with Triskelion and Walking Ballista, but those already have a win condition without the altar and scythe.

So, Ashnod's Altar Gravecrawler and Chromatic Orrery?
Sac the Gravecrawler to the altar, use orrery to change the colorless mana into mono black mana and resummon the crawler to hold the scythe or eventually give it to skittles or some other creature in my deck for the win?

Yes, that is the idea. And if you need to make more mana along the way just don't equip the scythe a time or two. You will not put counters on the scythe, but you will net a mana.
As SynergyBuild said above it works with Pitiless Plunderer and Reassembling Skeleton as well to make infinite mana if you don't equip the scythe.
Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Puppeteer Clique will make you infinite mana while equipping the scythe with Ashnod's Altar or allow you to put infinite counters on while equipping, or infinite colored mana not equipping with Phyrexian Altar.
Gravecrawler and Pitiless Plunderer will make you infinite mana while still equipping the scythe with either Ashnod's Altar or Phyrexian Altar.
Mikaeus, the Unhallowed with either Triskelion or Walking Ballista and a sac outlet can be used to put infinite counters on the scythe or make infinite mana, but they are also infinite damage without the scythe, so it seems redundant.
The gist is that it looks like you are going to need 2 additional pieces to go infinite, not just one.

aww well looks like i was to late and combo is pretty well covered already.
If not just run a search for any mainstream mono black deck that has Zulaport Cutthroat and Blood Artist in it then just add Malefic Scythe to it and you should be good to go.

Pitiless Plunderer with Reassembling Skeleton is what you want.
You attach the Scythe to Skeleton, then sacrifice it. You get 2 colorless and a treasure. Return the Skeleton to the battlefield and reattach it with the mana from the Altar & Plunderer. Rinse and repeat for infinite Scythe triggers!
