3-2 FNM 5/10 —May 12, 2013

M1: 2-1 played a G/R blitz type deck...slowest frickin player ever. If your playing blitz and I'm playing aggro we shouldn't take the play clock to less than 2 minutes time facepalm He got me game 2 when he was able to BTE into BTE into Searing Spear and I had no burn in hand.

M2: 0-2 against U/W/G control...I still have troubles with control; but I'm getting better and learning. Game 1 I had him down to 3 life and he had no cards in hand. He top decked a Snapcaster Mage and then flashed back Sphinx's Revelation for 10...I couldn't catch back up after that life gain and him quickly playing 2 Advent of the Wurm. Game 2 I drew only 1 of the 10 cards I SB'ed in.

M3: 0-2 against junk reanimator. I had mana issues and then didn't draw a single SB card (that seems to be a common theme with me -frustrating! I even separate them into my deck before shuffling)

M4: 2-1 against a R/B aggro deck. I was just a little better. And then he also Blasphemous Acted in game 3 to "end it sooner" in a draw...we both had Boros Reckoner on the field though, so my damage triggered 1st giving me the win. Haha

M5: 2-0 a midrangish G/B/R using Varolz, the Scar-Striped and scavenge with Vexing Devils. He had no answers for Falkenrath Aristocrat so I just created a wall of minions and flew in with her.

Thanks for taking a look FrostyJams! Always good to get some play test feedback. I will definitely take a look at your deck, I just need a few days. DGM prereleases are putting my behind in everything...and yet I'm going again today. Haha.

Looks like a tight deck, great name. +1

Why Hellhole Flailer over a fourth Boros Reckoner ? Is the damage ability (especially when exalted is going) that good? I would have though a fourth reckoner and maybe a Blasphemous Act would be good to consider. I do like the variety it introduces, but thought I'd ask.

Thanks Agog!

3 reasons for you:
1. "superstition" -no one at my LGS plays 4 Boros Reckoner because that 4th guy brings bad luck to the deck. Haha.
2. I only have access to 3 of them currently.
3. I think the 1 Hellhole Flailer is an unexpected throw in that adds variety and can be used a finisher with his sacrifice ability.

Blasphemous Act may be a good sideboard addition against certain decks, but generally I think it'd hurt me just as much as my opponent.

Sounds reasons - Thanks

Other maybeboard cards to me would be Bonfire of the Damned (against hexproof and token generators, although Mizzium Mortars also fills that role) and Rakdos's Return (against card advantage decks with Sphinx's Revelation ). Being x spells, though, isn't all that great for your mana base without any access to ramping....probably only worth a try if you think there's a hole on those fronts.

Blasphemous Act is used more as a win-con with a Boros Reckoner or two on the board and less as a board wipe.

Bonfire of the Damned and rakdos return are both great cards but they do not belong in an all-in aggro deck like this one. Decks like this is designed to usually win by turns 4-5 (6 at the latest) and neither of those cards are efficient during those early turns. Sure, a miracled bonfire for 4 by turn 5 would kill most things on the other side of the board but I'd rather draw into a Falkenrath Aristocrat to finish my opponent off.

Agog, mrbloo1848 pretty much took the words out of my mouth. I want to get in and out as fast a possible :-)

A card I've run into recently that nobody else plays but works wonders against midrange and mirrors is Firefist Striker . Decent draft pick but nobody thought twice about running him in a constructed aggro deck. Ran into a Rakdos aggro deck with him and he made me sad. Rakdos Charm is decent as your graveyard hate SB too if you run into reanimators.

I assume you're bringing this tonight and I wish you good luck.

Interesting thought mrbloo1848. Thank you! I cheat all the time on my SB. I'm actually currently running 2 Rakdos Charm s in there :-)

What I'd really love would be to get a hold of a couple Olivia Voldaren to side in against both aggro and midrange. Counter to oue thoughts above, I could even go Rakdos's Return on midrange and control matchups -switch to be less aggro-y to potentially screw up their SB-ins.

That's what I love about this deck. It can be so versatile with the SB cards (which I'm still working on perfecting).

Appetite for Brains works great against midrange, Junk Rites, and control decks.

Olivia Voldaren would be iffy in your deck since you have no way to ramp into a lot of mana like Jund does to abuse her abilities.

A more common answer against midrange would be the treason effects like Traitorous Blood or more Zealous Conscripts .

If you still want bigger creatures in the side against bigger slower decks with less creatures you can try Desecration Demon . It's poop against aggro but it pretty good against slower decks with less creatures.
