Long story short, I had to get rid of all of my cards when I moved back home after getting my DD214. Some kids brought in cases of cards one day at college and said if anyone wanted to build anything out of them, they were free. I pulled
Axebane Guardian
and started to think about what I could do with these great new things called Defenders.
With
Axebane Guardian
s and
Overgrown Battlement
s, you gain access to cheap and easy defender mana ramp (looking at you $20
Sylvan Caryatid
). The objective of this deck is usually get the mana ramp going to be able to get
Colossus of Akros
on the board. Usually have the mana to monstrous it the turn after, since it itself adds mana with the defender ramp. I've been told 18 mana for an indestructible, 20/20, trampler is a tad OP...but I love it. So...if someone dares to exile your
Colossus of Akros
(monsterous'd or not) you can cast
Momentous Fall
in response and either draw 10, gain 10 or draw 20, gain 20...WIN / WIN.
By adding white to this deck, you can gain access to some powerful control spells, almost none of which are implemented in this deck. With the flavor alone, I've added
Guard Duty
to make my opponents creatures better. After all, a 5/5 flying dragon isn't as good as a 5/5 flying dragon with defender!
The part I really want to try is the trick involving
Slagwurm Armor
+
Tree of Redemption
. So when you equip
Slagwurm Armor
to the
Tree of Redemption
, it makes it so that the tree (when the ability becomes used the turn after) is a 0/19. When the ability is used, your life total becomes 19 and the toughness of the
Tree of Redemption
goes to 20...BUT WAIT, the
Slagwurm Armor
is making it +0/+6, so it is actually a 0/26 creature now! You can manipulate this with any other toughness increasing spells/abilities/enchants/equipment, such as
Assault Formation
.
For variable card draw, as long as you get
Testament of Faith
out with
Kheru Dreadmaw
then you can basically dictate how many cards you want to be drawing by saccing the
Testament of Faith
.
One of the only things you need to watch out for with this deck is flying.
Wall of Vines
can help as chunk blockers, but that is about it.
Please let me know if you have tested any of these combo's / card synergies and what you think of the deck itself! Thanks for stopping by!
