Bolt is Dead, Long Live Bolt —Dec. 25, 2015

I've decided to cut Lightning Bolt from my deck since it really didn't do much for my gameplan. Instead, I added some cheaper threats in Scavenging Ooze and Courser of Kruphix. Having the ScOozes allows me to shave a copy of Relic of Progenitus from the sideboard and the additional blockers reduces the need for Firespout. I will still leave the Bolts in the sideboard for match-ups like Zoo, but for now they aren't needed.

And did you mean Burning-Tree Shaman shuts down twin? Or is it really BTE?

@Hallowed_Titan Thanks for the +1! Also you are entirely correct, it's Burning-Tree Shaman. I just forgot which was which when I was typing up the description and such.

This deck... All I can say is that it definitely makes a dramatic entrance. Seriously though this is great.

@Green_Ghost Thanks for the +1. I've been enjoying playing the deck, and a lot of people just don't know how to deal with Worldspine Wurm or Progenitus

I'm so afraid of creature based ramp in modern. Pyroclasm and Anger of the Gods scare me. This seems like a great idea though. Turn three Progenitus is ridiculous.

What's the fastest you think you could get to nine mana?

@MindAblaze I do agree, but we can typically push through their stuff if they are just trying to kill our creatures early. Thragtusk and Raging Ravine laugh in the faces of Pyroclasm.

As for getting to nine mana, a turn 1 land and Arbor Elf, turn 2 land, Utopia Sprawl, then any combination of two more Utopia Sprawls, Devoted Druids, or Arbor Elfs means that we can play a land on turn 3 and be at 9 mana. This is somewhat unlikely, but it can happen. I've really just made my ramp count to 5, and if I get higher than that then it's fortunate.

I was just thinking about Tooth and Nail but that's a different shell I think. I like a good old fashioned Timmy deck. +1

I do so,etching very similar but with Quicksilver Amulet for repetitive and reusable fun.

@MindAblaze I was trying to make a different deck, this is basically a faster Tooth and Nail deck that loses a bit of consistency going for the combo, but it also has a much better value plan using the Thragtusks. The instant speed is also great when facing off against a lot of blue decks (all of my meta...)

@demonicgrizzly I do love Quicksilver Amulet, but in this deck we only need one fatty to win the game. So rather than spending 8 mana on a creature, we can spend five for the same basic effect. I have designed amulet decks before, and they normally do really well in black when you can use Rune-Scarred Demon to good effect.

I like this deck, I may style a deck like this with a few personal changes, great decklist! I can't wait to test it out!

@nocsha Great. If you do get some playtesting done with it, feel free to tell me how it went and maybe also link me to the decklist. This is still a work in progress, so all suggestions and feedback are welcome.
