Step On Me Mommy UwU

The Purpose

This is a decklist I've been working on for my brother featuring Trample as the main keyword, and then finding ways to utilize Trample well. Picking one keyword or gimmick and supporting it is a pretty common way that I build and this wont be any different.

The main strategy is to play very cheap and quick creatures that have trample already so that you don't have to bother giving it to them, then growing them with other spells. I prefer to use spells that stick around and continue giving, but I do have some instants in here too. Aside from growth this deck features First Strike and Deathtouch, both of which work very well with Trample.

Card Breakdown

Almighty Brushwagg

  • This creature is here to give you something on turn 1 that you can begin to grow as soon as possible. With a lot of these spells, the earlier you get started, the better.
  • His mana ability could help push the damage a little further if you ever find yourself with 4 mana to blow.

Avatar of the Resolute

  • An absolute beast of a card, at 2cmc coming in with 3/2
  • And Trample
  • And Reach
  • AND he gets late game value with that last ability that lets him come into play with counters, which is very rare for a 2 drop. All together a very efficient good card.

Bow of Nylea

  • The first ability gives all attacking creatures Deathtouch, which works really well with trample because you only have to assign 1 combat damage to the defending creature to kill it, then the rest goes through.
  • I'm not gonna pretend this isn't here just to give everyone deathtouch, but this artifact does have a lot of other benefits that you might as well profit from.

Ethereal Armor

  • A great enchantment for giving counters, it can get bigger and bigger as you add enchantments to your creatures.
  • Also gives first strike, one of the main features of the Trample complimentary theme.

Forced Adaptation

  • A good, reliable way to grow a creature. The longer you go the more powerful it gets. This can make Hydra's Growth pretty crazy, but it also can insure you are capable of functioning in longer games.

Giant Growth

  • A nice little surprise for some mid combat antics.
  • Does trigger your Kodama of the West Tree's ability to grab lands.

Gleam of Authority

  • Another solid, good value way to grow a creature and pump those numbers up

Hornbash Mentor

  • He's a creature that can grow all the other ones, easy since they all already have Trample.
  • He's the one of the two creatures that don't natively have Trample, though he can get it from Kodama of the West Tree.

Hydra's Growth

  • Probably the fastest, most exponential growth you can manage with this deck.

Kami of Transience

  • Basically has an Ethereal Armor like on it already so it can grow itself easily.
  • Can also return itself from the graveyard pretty easily.

Kodama of the West Tree

  • A solid creature that can give itself and others trample, but also allows you to tutor for lands pretty frequently.

Season of Growth

  • Gets you some card draw when you cast your Auras and Instants.
