This is one of the stranger decks that I have come up with (and that is saying something). The idea here is to use Snow-Covered Island
+
Snowfall
to abuse cumulative upkeep (CU) cards such as Mystic Remora,
Survivor of the Unseen
, and
Prismatic Circle
. Once I settled on those cards I decided upon Jace's Erasure as a primary win condition (since you should hopefully be drawing extra cards).
Survivor of the Unseen
gives you mini-Brainstorms and Mystic Remora will either draw you cards (thus milling the opponent with Jace's Erasure in play) or make your opponent hesitate, which is good for us either way.
Maxed out Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse not only fix for the solo Plains, but also provide shuffle effects for Brainstorm and
Survivor of the Unseen
when we put away cards (which basically means we are playing Legacy lol).
Drift of Phantasms defends air and ground and can tutor
Snowfall
or something else in a pinch .
The rest of the spells are for slowing the game down and keeping us alive.
A big downside of
Snowfall
, is that it itself has a CU. However, I want to see if generating an extra 2 mana per
Snow-Covered Island
for CU will be worth it. If by some miracle we can play multiple
Snowfall
s, then not only will we have a ton of CU mana to keep our fragile CU stuff alive, but we will also have the most annoying upkeeps of all time.
I definitely need to test, both to see if it works, and see how horrible the upkeeps are. It might even be better to replace
Survivor of the Unseen
with
Merfolk Looter
, to ease up on the CU costs.
I'm not sure if
Counterspell
s are good in this deck. I think our mana might be too tied up in CU and other things to hold up counters.
Any comments or suggestions are welcome!
