Dark Depths is banned in modern, and this is sad. Marit Lage, the unofficial 4th eldrazi titan, is a big bad mama jama and easily the coolest token in MTG, but the land that spawns her is banned.
Guess that just leaves Marit Lage's Slumber to work with. I think I've got a solution.
When you get down to it this deck is pretty simple: Get Marit Lage's Slumber out, get lots of snow permanents and boom, a big ol' 20/20 that your opponent has to deal with is now on the board. Question is though, how do we get the 10 snow permanents quickly? Well that's where the other name sake of the deck comes in, Orvar, the All-Form.
Orvar is amazing and this deck is going to show you why. His ability to make copies of permanents is busted and this deck is the perfect example of that, because what's better than 1 Marit Lage token? That's right. A bunch of them.
This deck is currently mono-blue but that may very well change. The game plan, again, is pretty simple. Get the Slumber out. Get Orvar out. Make copies of snow permanents you control (namely lands but there are other targets you can go for as well) to get Marit Lage out, then make a bunch of Marit Lage tokens and overwhelm your opponent. Why make more than one token you ask? Well that's easy. Indestructible is not the end all be all that it used to be. There's plenty of cards running around that can just exile the fat 20/20 making all your effort for nothing, so it's better to have multiple copies of it out as insurance. As many as possible which can be quite a lot if things go your way!
Rough draft currently, definitely not the final form. Only card in the Sideboard is Altar of Dementia because turning Marit Lage into a Newlamog trigger is funny to me. Any and all suggestions on where and how to take this deck are welcome and appreciated!
