@Lilbrudder Earlier in the thread Leinahtan did something similar (comment #99) as a FAQ outline, and that could be expanded on to include every tier 1 or 2 general. It's a lot of work, but a quick blurb about all of the top commanders would be quite useful and would save us having to repeat ourselves after every comment reset.

The only thing I will be missing will be the decklist for Leovold, I saw a couple ones around but I don't remember which one was stated as the most optimized one. I know it shoulkd be somewhere in the comments and I will look for it, if anybody can be faster than me it would be great ;)

Purphoros, God of the Forge

This will break Purphoros, God of the Forge in half. I was actually working on an artifact version of the deck, simply to see if it was better than the one we have listed here as the tier two deck, and I think this artifact will make the deck better than what it actually his, letting us burn everyone twice as fast. 4 damage to everyone for each creature entering the battlefield? Wow, this will be amazing. Totally hyped for Kaladesh right now.

So does this move any decks up a tier?

Based on everything I've heard, HD actually has a slight edge as a finisher for Leovold. Doomsday is a solid route for him as well though.

Honestly even the version of the Hermit Druid combo is kind of meh. Narcomoeba, Fatestitcher, and Dread Return are simply horrible outside a reanimator shell. I feel like the deck would be much improved just going with Memory's Journey and Deep Analysis to make a mini Doomsday pile of Gitaxian Probe, Yawgmoth's Will, and Dark Ritual. Its a little more mana intensive (which doesn't matter when Leo wants to combo off) but it cuts at least 2 dead cards out of the deck.

I believe that's an auto include in Krenko, Mob Boss + Purphoros, God of the Forge decks. It also has tons of potential in Brago, King Eternal who is already listed as Tier 1.

That card is so good, I'm happy. I've felt that EDH hasn't gotten many good new toys in recent sets.

Several questions. Why do people think smokestacks is so good outside of legacy? It isn't bad, but people treat it like an instant win, even though it is slow and is easily removed by everything sans black. Second, some guy is building nicol at my shop amd 30 cards are combo pieces it runs no removal and the ramp package is just sol ring and gem he spent 1.2k on this and not only thinks it is good, but that it is capable of consistant t4 wins. Why do people think this is what a combo deck is?

Smokestack is amazing because it can more or less create a resource lock and it only takes something like Bitterblossom to break it. It is the classic stax piece. Stax is named after it. The card is the pinnacle of asymmetrical resource denial and is an effect that isn't really able to be duplicated. The slowness is also not a big deal because stax is literally the slowest archetype there is. I love the card and while it isn't really worthwhile in most prison lists (which seem the most common stax form floating around EDH), it is the crown jewel of true stax lists.

As for the Nicol Bolas guy, he's an idiot. Don't concern yourself with the ramblings of morons.

Please stop saying stax is named after smokestacks. And again im not saying it isnt good, but in edh it loses quite a bit of flair. Also the only "true stax list" is t4k$. But I guess the slowness of stax makes up for it, but a Couple commanders can outrace your soot output (however they are all t2)
