Revamped and New Direction! —Sept. 3, 2016
BLOODLUST edition is online!!! Land storm count has just shot up the roof to 20 or greater!!! Revamped, streamlined, and more focused on abusing Landfall and cut out all the high costed bells and whistles to lower average cmc. The following are notable additions:
-
Nullmage Shepherd replaces my artifact/enchantment removals and is a more reliable removal in this build due to ability to tutor for it and the amount of tokens I have on the field most of the time.
-
Evolutionary Leap has been great in testing. Replaces a token to get a creature while also providing an extra sac outlet.
-
Nim Deathmantle is incredibly useful (barring exile effects) in recovering from removals and boardwipes and I have no problem for the mana required for it. Commander tax is going to be a thing and this card solves half of that problem. This card also provides evasion to close out the game. It also goes infinite with Ashnod's Altar and Avenger of Zendikar/Titania, Protector of Argoth.
-
Burgeoning was cut in my initial version as I wasn't focusing on the landfall engine at that time. But with a landfall engine build, this card is relevant throughout any point of the game. I can ramp early game or bounce my land back to my hand and get extra triggers during my opponents' turn later in the game especially if they are being sloppy and forget about triggering Omnath for lands they play.

Chord of Calling is an amazing tutor in any token strategy. Being able to answer anything at instant speed is great. Lines of play in this deck include finding Stalking Vengeance in respond to a board wipe and deal buttloads of damage or finding Nullmage Shepherd in respond to an infinite combo involving an enchantment/artifact.
-
Purphoros, God of the Forge is great in this deck especially with all the tokens I can produce. Early game I can slowly chip away at everyone's health before I set up my big play. A late game Avenger of Zendikar will almost always end the game. Replaced Gratuitous Violence
with this.

KLD's new planeswalker Nissa, Vital Force looks promising. Her ultimate synergies with our strategy and is easy to get there. I also run Doubling Season which can activate her ultimate the turn she comes in.
