Changes for more consistency —Nov. 26, 2024
BirdieGirlie proposed very good ideas for the deck, and brought quite a lot of ideas. I have beed playtesting a bit and I think I found some nice cards. I took out Invasion of Ixalan, The World Spell and Hauntwoods Shrieker. The two first did not work as nicely as I would have hoped. Also removed Springleaf Drum and Reckoner Bankbuster and now I'm using Jaspera Sentinel and Destiny Spinner, as the deck clearly needed more creatures. I also tried including more card draw in 2 more copies of Harmonize and Track Down, as well as adding Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur as Omniscience payoff.
I still think the deck is missing some more immediate threats, like big ETBs from Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, but it is quite out of the budget.
BirdieGirlie makes a lot of sense. I playtested the deck just to see how would it work and intended on keep iterating on it. While trying I found what you said. Not enough creatures either for Eldritch Evolution or Fauna Shaman so I will try getting more on the deck. I also found that The World Spell and Invasion of Ixalan Flip usually were very underwhelming. The latter still had some value, but it would rarely be flipped, so I want to try getting simply more draw spells. The ideal here would be to get something like Forging the Anchor is for artifacts, in general a very efficient draw spell just for something, but I don't think there is any choice. Maybe I will try some draw + scry effects. Regarding the Omniscience payoff, Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur is AMAZING, so now I think the deck is just missing some other threat that is more immediately dangerous, as Worldspine Wurm does not seem to go all the way to it. Finally, dealing with removal and counters. I absolutely know that the combo is VERY reliant on Kona, Rescue Beastie living, but I want to just get some more consistent and better tuned deck first. Also, some of the best options like Veil of Summer are quite pricey and feel very bad if they get stuck in your hand without use or you draw too many. For now, I am considering including Destiny Spinner to deal with counters and also act as fodder for some of the crature searchers when not needed.

OMFG you're right, this is SO FUN!!! I've been playtesting this and have a few observations:
This deck needs more creatures. Citanul Stalwart and Fauna Shaman are your biggest MVPs. If you know of another card like Shaman, you should consider adding it it's fantastic imo. Shaman and Eldritch Evolution both require a sacrifice of a creature card and I found I was often lacking a creature to activate either ability. Stalwart and Springleaf Drum also require creatures (or artifacts) to provide you with emergency mana. If there was more material for those, this deck would be considerably faster.
I never saw The World Spell in any of my hands or draws while testing, and while it might theoretically be possible to hard cast it in a longer game, that just doesn't feel worth it to me. Reckoner Bankbuster is not a creature most of the time and that hamstrings the deck like I mentioned before. I'd get rid of both and add some combo of Jaspera Sentinel, Loam Dryad, or Saruli Caretaker. I'd also maybe get at least a couple copies of a less costed draw spell. Once you're set up with Omniscience, Harmonize is awesome, but not before, at least in my playtesting. Because you can't play it with Kona. Idk maybe I'm wrong.
Speaking ofOmniscience, for payoffs, might I suggest Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur? It's not that expensive, I'd only get one or two at most because of the no blue mana thing, and it really fits the YGO theme because it prevents your opponents from playing the game so hard! It also refills your hand so that you can keep on casting spells from your hand for free!
I've been looking for a new 60 card deck to play - maybe this will be it!!!!!!
