Fixing a Mistake + Updated Deck List —June 21, 2018

It appears I have made a mistake with my Phasing Explanation in the Deck Description. It never occurred to me that I have made it in error until tonight when I played the deck in the first time in years.

Taniwha's second paragraph of text is a triggered ability so it can be responded to in during the Upkeep phase as he phases out lands out.

This detail won me a 3 hour game tonight with Sunder and looking back on my explanation , I didn't communicate this to an adequate degree. Since many a people are discovering this deck I feel like the correction should be made to clear up some confusion with the deck.

In other news, I have added 2 new cards to the list. Thran Temporal Gateway and Inventors' Fair.

Inventors' Fair was one I was sleeping on for a while but it really help smooth out the deck in the late game when you need specific pieces.

Thran Temporal Gateway is steeping up to the plate in place of Show and Tell. Show and Tell is amazing don't get me wrong but most often I find that the free spell that you give your opponents is pretty back breaking since they are trying to hate your out of the game. This allows us to save mana and cheat out our big costly artifacts we normally wouldn't be able to cast from under phasing.

+1 Thran Temporal Gateway +1 Inventors' Fair

A great deck and a very unique idea, GorehoundABB! I'm really loving it.

By the way, you were saying that Mindslaver was underperforming recently, but I still see it in the decklist. Has you opinion changed on that?

Also, if you had access to any EDH-legal card available regardless of its price, would you have made any changes to the current list?

SurpriZe If I had any card regardless of price it would be 100% The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale. The card does so much for so little investment on my board and is an added STAX card to boot. Other cards I think would be fun would have to be Illusionary Mask as an alternate way to get Blightsteel Colossus into play as well Power Artifact and Transmute Artifact for mana generation through phasing as well as another semi tutor for handy artifacts.

In regards to Mindslaver, its still in the deck list because I haven't updated it partly due because I haven't gotten the chance to do so. I have replaced it with In the Eye of Chaos a much more disruptive card than Mindslaver.

Thanks for the thorough answer, GorehoundABB! I've already had the chance to play this deck and was really surprised by the power level! I didn't expect it to work this well.

Those are some great suggestions. However, which cards would you recommend to replace with The Tabernacle, Illusionary Mask, as well as Power Artifact and Transmute Artifact?

Also, I've noticed that none of your mana-rocks produce coloured mana. Don't you think it's worth adding colour producing artifacts to be able to cast spells even when all your lands are phased out?

I would take out a couple of things. Meekstone and Energy Vortex are two that would be on the chopping block for any of those 4 cards.

As for the color situation, I find it doesn't matter since Mycosynth Lattice fixes that problem pretty quick. That along with As Foretold I can cast pretty much what ever I want.

If Color is an issue, I could always switch out some of the rocks with Gilded Lotus and Coldsteel Heart if it under performs in that regard.

But since the deck is at least 25+ % artifacts, the colorless angle shouldn't be too much of a hindrance to take a turn off until the lands come back in. Chances are that if you are in that of scenario, either you are already ahead on board so its pretty safe to take the turn off or you are going to lose in a slow and grindy game as your opponents try desperately to kill you through the taxes and land destruction.

Funny you should mention these two cards, as Meekstone was the card that won one of the games for me when I played this deck, together with the Energy Vortex. It seems odd to switch them out now, maybe you have other suggestions? I know that it's fine to swap an Island for The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale, but it's very hard for me to judge what other cards are important due to lack of experience with the deck.

SurpriZe I have been told that Show and Tell and Jace, the Mind Sculptor could also be cut from the deck for not doing enough for the game plan.Show and Tell runs the risk of being out valued and Jace hates on one player rather the whole board. If you are willing to cut those in favor for more power by all means do so.
