First FNM of Origins 3-1 —July 17, 2015
First FNM upon Origins release, seen a lot of R/U Thopter decks being played but overall, quite a pleasant change of scenery.
Round 1: 2-1 R/U Thopter Deck Overall: An ok deck, but it still doesn't seen to do much outside of limited.
Game 1: Ensoul Artifact + Ornithopter = Wrecked me hard. I wasn't able to protect the Abzan Falconer enough to make an impact on the board due to all those burn spells
Game 2: Sideboard in more Dromoka's Command to deal with those burn spells and it worked great. Stopped those pesky Stoke the Flames and even manage to fight off a few Thopter tokens
Game 3: Steamrolled over him with Gideon when he was a PW. Abzan Falconer made everything shine.
Round 2: 2-0 Abzan Control
Game 1: Vryn Wingmare shined like a spotlight. All those pesky kill spells were dead in his hand. Even Languish wasn't able to save him from my 6/6 Avatar of the Resolute
Game 2: Sided in some Duress to take out a few kill spells before they could hit me. Wasn't exactly a walk in the park, but manage to avoid going to game 3 when I top decked a Collected Company + getting two creatures off of it to trigger Bolster.
Round 3: 2-0 G/B Collected Elves
Game 1: I hate those Shaman of the Pack, made my life extremely difficult. Abzan Falconer made my life much easier to attack since I didn't have to worry too much about all those elf tokens
Game 2: Sided in Tragic Arrogance and it was extremely useful. Made a big splash against all those damn elves that I had fly over.
Round 4: 1-2 Mono-Red Goblins
Game 1: All those goblins made my life miserable. Once again, Abzan Falconer was a bright light that flew over all those damn tokens
Game 2: Remember that Goblin Piledriver + Goblin Rabblemaster ? Ran into that again, and it stomped in right into the ground.
Game 3: Got outswarmed by Goblin tokens. He didn't even manage to get Piledriver or Rabblemaster out and I still manage to lose to those tokens. -.-
Lesson Learned:
Abzan Falconer shined REALLY bright in this deck. An all-star of the deck
Still struggling with aggro decks but overall, I like what i'm seeing (minus all the goblin decks)
Interesting on that regards about all those big creatures. So far the meta in my LGS has been control or aggro and have been prepping against those decks.
Haven't seen too many mid-range type decks yet. Maybe I can find someone who has one to play test against it.

Goalith Yeah, those dinosaurs are really expensive now, you could try to bypass them with a playset of Heir of the Wilds, but of course it's not the same.
I totally understand your point, which is valid! It is true indeed! But I was trying to explain a scenario where you are more likely to win because of unblocked creatures, and not because of an ability like 'first strike' or 'trample'. Don't worry too much of creatures dying in battle. Most of them are bound to die sooner or later, but the key of this deck rely on non-token unblocked creatures that deal 3 or 4 dmg when resolving. The only way they can be stopped in battle if you play fast enough is with tokens like Hordeling Outburst, and even in that place, tokens will die first, they're just 1/1.
What I mean is: Go full attack! constantly, as fast as possible. It doesn't matter if you have 'first strike' or 'trample', you will not be able to kill a Stormbreath Dragon, a Siege Rhino, or a Polukranos, World Eater. So, win by placing 2 or 3 bombs by turn 4 while your opp can only deploy 1 creature instead ;)
