Tuning (Part Tres) —Dec. 19, 2019

Too many changes, I've lost track.

Here she is now in her current, magnificent state. I'm quite happy with the results so far. Playtesting is now needed to determine if the changes are optimal.

Saw the update with the recent changes, I think all of those changes were solid!

To address the question brought up in your update, you wanted room for the tutors. Given that you just added earth craft and some early turn mana dorks, you could replace crytolic rite. Earthcraft and the mana dorks I feel serve this purpose already. While the added redundancy would be nice, I don't see an abusive engine with it. Glad to see you added survival and seasons past per my recomendations :)

Hi, I would to asked if you have suggestion as an alternative to the following cards - Gaea's Cradle - Ifh-Biff Efreet

Thanks in advance :)

Hi exiled69, those are both cards that are difficult to replace. I suppose that Squallmonger can do an Ifh-Biff Efreet impersonation, but Gaea's Cradle is pretty unique, and we already run Growing Rites of Itlimoc  Flip

What are you trying to do?

Hi scotchtapedsleeves, just sprucing up the font and look of the page mostly. Like how you've done with Inkmoth's Yeva and my Gitrog deck

Hey all. Thanks for any Upvotes. I'd love comments too. Could you please tell me what you'd cut to add Sylvan Tutor ?

Someone suggested I cut Spike Weaver for Sylvan Tutor so I'll test that for now

Thanks for the reply Ender666666 well due to budget constraints that I'm wondering if there could be a budget alternative to both cards. I was thinking for the efreet is Borrowing the East Wind but I still couldn't think an budget alternative to gaea's cradle. :)

Ender666666 says... #9

Borrowing the East Wind is a pretty good option, just misses 99.999% of creatures...

Ender666666 says... #10

Borrowing the East Wind is actually worth considering here

GreenHamma thanks for the suggestion of Steelbane Hydra , I may end up adding it. I like it

Are you trying to do it yourself? If you copy the gitrog sheet and change a few of the colours it'll look like a whole new page!

Oh really? I'll play with it a little then and see what I can come up with. Thanks scotchtapedsleeves

Question for the followers of this deck... Does Finale of Devastation make more sense here than Green Sun's Zenith ? I'm wondering if the utility and pumping trumps the reusability of GSZ?

December 9, 2019 3:22 p.m.

Vinman says... #15

Depends on how many creatures you usually have out for Finale to be relevant. They don't get trample, but they would be beefy enough to just possibly wipe someone's board. I would consider testing it at least, but I don't know what you would even cut for it? A land?

Ender666666 says... #16

Well I was thinking about running it instead of GSZ...

December 10, 2019 7:26 p.m.

Vinman says... #17

Swap them for now, but the "redundancy" would be good I think to have both. And the deck is low enough cmc I think you could cut a land for it honestly

Vinman

What land would he cut, Blighted Woodland ? He just recently added a bunch of dorks, so cutting a forest wouldn't seem ideal.

To everyone that's commented or upvoted or even saved this deck to a folder, Thank You. Also, how many of you have built a version of this deck? I'd love to hear about your experiences running it.

Congrats on your 100th upvote Ender666666!!!

Vinman says... #21

Profet93 If Blighted Woodland would be cut, might as well make it Myriad Landscape because it comes in tapped. There's enough green sources that cutting a forest wouldn't be awful.

Ender666666 I'm currently testing out a less competitive version because of my playgroup and having a blast with it. I'll be posting the list shortly.

First of all, congratulations for your 100th upvote!

Have you seen Setessan Champion in the new spoiled cards? Thought it could interest you since it has a low cost a good body.

Still thinking about my version of the deck, not sure if I want to use Omnath as a mana bank/alternative beater or Nissa as my general.

Ender666666 how do you feel Exploration and Burgeoning perform for yourself. I feel like those cards are too polarizing in performance for myself. It's either an extremely high ceiling or I'm disappointed to have it because I don't end up with the lands I need to make them consistent. I'm almost considering replacing both of them for more consistent ramp.

Profet93 says... #24

Vinman

I agree, especially given all the dorks and the low land count.

Ender666666 says... #25

Hey folks, thanks for the suggestions.

My main issue with cutting Burgeoning or Exploration are that once my draw engine gets going, they start to shine and get extra lands out of my hand and into play... I'll give it some thought though
