just played my first FNM! was a LOT of fun, very nice people at this store (which was also a clothing store lol)
Round 1 vs William:
William was using some kind of blue/black aggro deck i hadn't seen before. he had some mana troubles, and i ended up 2-0ing fairly easily.
Round 2 vs Joe:
Joe was using a gruul aggro deck, which i was really scared of. game 1 he swarmed me pretty hard before i was able to counter, and verdict never showed up, so i lost pretty quickly. game 2 he mulled to 4 and was stuck on 2 land for a very long time, so i won easily but didn't feel great about it haha. time ran out turn 1 of game 3, and he wasnt able to kill me in the 5 turn limit, so it was a draw.
Round 3 vs Eric:
Eric was one of the more competitive players at the store (he mentioned needing just a few more points in order to get another bye at pro tours) and he was using a R/W/U control deck. game 1 he kept a bad hand and i beat him to death with 3 augurs for what felt like forever. next game i was land flooded and he beat me to death with 2 augurs. game 3 after a long time sideboarding from both of us, he eventually got out a red dragon whose name i don't remember (flying, haste, some other effect involving tapping) and hit me for 5. i detention sphere'd it, and next turn he brings out another one and takes me to 10 life. i detention sphere that one too, and get an aetherling out (after a lengthy counter-battle). he uses renounce the guilds on my D-sphere to get his dragon back, and i allow it, then seconds later realize i had 4 counters in hand. that sucked haha. so he takes me out 1-2.
round 3 vs Sienna:
sienna used a dimir mill deck, which i was fairly scared of too. game 1 she mills me hard and i dont put up much of a fight. game 2 goes pretty perfectly for me, i get an aetherling out fairly early and swing 3 times for the kill. game 3 started in her favor, but i eventually stabilized and began beating her to death with a single augur while she was stuck topdecking. eventually i have about 15 cards in deck and she has about 10 life, and a couple turns and syncopates later i get my aetherling out. she has 8 life remaining, i have 6 cards in deck remaining, and she mind sculpts :|
so i lose 1-2 again.
Overall Record: 5-5-1
overall i did better than i thought i would, and had an amazing time. got one of the random door prizes, they let us choose from all the promos they had, i took a promo maze's end and they gave me an extra promo render silent as a first-FNM present i guess haha.
