Post Pro Tour Tweaks —Aug. 3, 2015

Mono Red Aggro was all over Pro Tour: Origins and it's going to become very popular now. So, after playtesting vs the winning deck (without sideboarding) it appears that I need to speed up my deck a little to stand a chance against anything but the worst draws from the mono red deck. Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip didn't feel great in the match-up but I think I'm going to keep her in for now. Deflecting Palm is definitely being moved to the side and being replaced with Searing Blood. I should probably finally replace Magma Jet with Wild Slash for the faster meta-game. I'm also adding Surge of Righteousness to the side as it's probably the best white sideboard card for the match-up. As far as sideboarding goes I want to try siding in Anger of the Gods, Searing Blood, and Surge of Righteousness and taking out Monastery Swiftspear and Abbot of Keral Keep becoming the control deck in the match-up. I don't like the idea of keeping their Searing Bloods live by keeping in a few creatures but I don't think I can help that.

G/R Devotion is still a very real deck so I need to leave my tools for beating it in my sideboard. Game 2 I generally side in Anger of the Gods, End Hostilities, Valorous Stance, Deflecting Palm, and Elspeth, Sun's Champion taking out Monastery Swiftspear, Abbot of Keral Keep, and Searing Blood. If you can clear the board with Outpost Siege out you can generally win pretty easily. I almost want to try Ugin, the Spirit Dragon instead of Elspeth, Sun's Champion but Ugin exiles Outpost Siege. Although the interaction with Ugin and Pyromancer's Goggles is pretty neat, allowing you to ramp to Ugin and Goggles being colorless doesn't get exiled by him.

I can't find room in my sideboard for Erase. I'm worried so much more about popular decks that the card has no use in. I'll just hope I don't run into any Whip of Erebos decks from now on. Although Erase does have a place against U/R Artifacts that also will become popular... because of Ensoul Artifact.

Putting Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip into the sideboard, adding the fourth copy of Anger of the Gods to the sideboard as well as a fourth copy of Surge of Righteousness to the sideboard. Taking out Valorous Stance from the sideboard because it never felt great in the deck and I haven't been playing against much Abzan.
