Vren, the Relentless
Legendary Creature — Rat Rogue
Ward (Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, counter it unless that player pays .)
If a creature an opponent controls would die, exile it instead.
At the beginning of each end step, create X 1/1 black Rat creature tokens with "This creature gets +1/+1 for each other Rat you control," where X is the number of creatures your opponents controlled that were exiled this turn.

DarkKiridon... Vren, the Relentless has a lot of potential, but I am set on black, because of the Kitchen Staff section that I have already put together. I like the "Movie theme" that is going on. LOL
Withering Torment is solid. I agree, I need to be able to hit more than just creatures, which is why I like Baleful Mastery. I am totally fine with them drawing a card if I get to shut down an annoying planeswalker.
Overkill is good, but I cut it for Withering Torment.

One more thing. Not sure how sold you are on the commander and/or mono-black (if you are than you can ignore me haha), but in my pod I have to deal with Vren, the Relentless, and with that commander you'll have access to blue and still pretty much keep what you are mostly trying to do here potentially. Vren is sooooo annoying.

Here's a few idea pitches off the top of my head:
Marchesa, the Black Rose or Don Andres, the Renegade
theft: survives removal and board wipes easily, saltiness depends on how much your pod likes having their stuff taken away
Xavier Sal, Infested Captain combo: non-infinite combo options like Intruder Alarm or Corpsejack Menace, generally low salt
Yarok, the Desecrated blink value: lots of directions to build in, plenty of control options
That Rona, Tolarian Obliterator Flip combo I mentioned: dump your deck for per card
Vren, the Relentless sacrifice: wants lots of removal, flexible win con
If one of those looks interesting, go ahead and use it as a base.

I just thought again of your deck and your commander.
I remembered an old card I have : Ogre Slumlord. It is a similar card as Vren, the Relentless, so it can be a good synergy.
You may also add some cards that say "Each player sacrifice a creature", as you will much likely sacrifice a rat to create 3 of them. Here are some of them you don't have : Accursed Marauder, Barter in Blood, Demon's Disciple, Innocent Blood... As a similar idea, Death Cloud may be a win condition if you manage to cast it for X=7+, destroy all the land and kill all the board except for Vren.

I feel like Vren, the Relentless is super underappreciated. It's an engine and payoff in one card and those tokens can win games on their own.

Caerwyn thanks for chiming in! That card is almost singlehandedly why I'm asking this question. I actually traded for one recently, added it, and saw it twice... but 20 rat colony seems just slightly too low to reliably trigger it.
I only hit 2 rat colony in I'm guessing 8 triggers (which to be fair is a super low sample size) and I ended up cutting it (at least temporarily) for Vren, the Relentless and Persistent Marshstalker out of Bloomburrow. I've also been cutting a lot of similar effects (Winota from Isshin, Azorius Boromir from Eowyn, etc.) from other decks because I'm constantly burying needed interaction on the bottom of my library.
