King Narfi's Betrayal

Enchantment — Saga

(As this Saga enters the battlefield and after your draw step, put a lore counter on this and activate and/or enable the ability of the saga tied to the required number of lorecounters. Sacrifice this after you put a third lore counter on this.)

: Each player mills four cards. Then you may exile a creature or planeswalker card from each graveyard. (To mill a card, put the top card of your library into your graveyard.)

, : Until end of turn, you may cast spells from among cards exiled with King Narfi's Betrayal, and you may spend mana as though it were mana of any colour to cast those spells.

If you switched to snow lands you could include Draugr Necromancer. Also consider King Narfi's Betrayal

Hand disruption might serve you better then trying to hard cast leyline in the sideboard. More emrys would help you a lot. Otherworldly Gaze for mill. a 1 of Wonder for evasion. Stinkweed Imp Self mill in dredge. Corpse Churn random mill with recursion. the one spot where King Narfi's Betrayal would be good? Just random ideas

I'm guessing this deck is supposed to be for historic, because if it's for modern making it a semi-boggles deck seems like a better plan. I do like the inclusion of King Narfi's Betrayal and Rite of oblivion as ways of getting your guys in the Graveyard. I also recommend Shipwreck Sifters as it gets bigger, gets you card selection, and cards in your graveyard. I also recommend Skyclave Apparition for removal as it's good, plus it's a spirt. Oh and Geistlight Snare is an amazing counter spell to protect your huge creatures. I'd honestly cut undead butler for more spirit or protection.

I also want to say take out the Entomb for Vile Entomber cause while it does cost 4 compared to the 1 it is still a creature doing it and with your commander you can easily bring it bak from the grave thus doing it more, i also see you are going with a small milling theme to aid your commander as well but i think it could potentially backfire against many opponents but that would be more situational, as for fitting in fun cards like Victory Chimes you could take out Fellwar Stone and yes ik that the mana cost is different but considering you already have solring and signets i believe it would be completely alright for that, as for King Narfi's Betrayal just take out 1 of your mill cards and that saga is easily better because of its effects in general and Black Market is practically a must have as a constant and a potential target for removal, now where cards to remove go Winds of Rebuke and Grisly Spectacle .

Draugr Necromancer goes well with your kill spells. Restricts opponent's battlefield to graveyard too since Necromancer exiles the dead.

Spirit of the Aldergard fetches a snow land and gets bigger.

Blood on the Snow ? Narfi, Betrayer King ? Hailstorm Valkyrie ?

If you wanted to go the mill route, there's King Narfi's Betrayal and Iceberg Cancrix .

Blizzard Brawl for a bit more removal.

Going to give some feedback on playing this. I had a great time actually. First game unfortunately was against a snow Simic with almost the same cards except with much heavier beaters (Spirit Bear of doom!). I managed to get a few wins out of it though thanks to Ravenform and Annul to shut down the crazy Icebind Pillar. I switched in some Saw it Coming as I did not have access to Graven Lore and used it to great effect against a Goldspan or two. That said, I love killing things like Koma, Cosmos Serpent and said Goldspan Dragon with Priest of the Haunted Edge stealing them with Draugr Necromancer or King Narfi's Betrayal, only to tap them with Frost Breath. Fun, tough deck with a lot of response. I also switched in a Poison the Cup to be a bit more aggressive when I didn't have fliers and I replaced Frostpeak Yeti with Ascendant Spirit.

Obelisk_Of_Terror aha, I thought it would be too much of a hindrance, but I see that with Grim Draugr and King Narfi's Betrayal you pretty much go about your business.

Fair point on the name. I should have put "homebrew" instead, I did this because most of the feedback I got was "just turn it into a rogue mill deck" -- but I don't want this to be someone else's deck, I want help refining my homebrew concept.

Relic Golem seems like a perfect fit, thank you! It also gives Call of the Death-Dweller more of a justification of being in there.

But what should I remove? I keep going back-and-forth on removing King Narfi's Betrayal , but it's helpful for that self-mill/discard that the deck needs.
